Amy Duggar King is not shocked by much that happens in her supersized family these days. Despite once appearing close to the Duggar clan during their heyday on TLC, she’s taken a massive step back from them. Amy recently revealed when and why she started setting up boundaries with her extended family. While Amy started creating distance around the time of Josh Duggar’s child pornography arrest, she insists he was not the sole reason why she created space. Amy said she took steps to separate herself from her Duggar cousins because she always suspected more sex abuse claims would come to light. She was not wrong. A second sex abuse trial is on the docket for the Duggars.

Amy Duggar King recently revealed that she feared more sex abuse scandals would be revealed

Amy Duggar King has been largely estranged from the Duggar family, save for one cousin, since 2021. That is the year Josh Duggar was arrested on child pornography charges. While Amy began creating distance with her family around that time, she admits that Josh’s arrest and, later, his conviction, were not the only reasons she reevaluated her relationship with her family.

Amy sat down for a chat with Dory Jackson recently and discussed the “dark” nature of the Duggar family. She said she started putting space between herself and her famous family around the time she welcomed her son, Daxton King, largely because she feared more sexual abuse scandals were set to come to light. She said there was a great deal of “darkness” in her extended family, and that she simply felt in her bones that the problem did not end with Josh Duggar.

Amy previously discussed the “darkness” in the Duggar family in her book, Holy Disruptor. The Arkansas native alluded to her grandfather, Jimmy Lee Duggar, being a sexual predator. She also revealed he was physically abusive. In the book, she revealed that her family took steps to ensure she was never alone with him. Despite that, she and her mother, Deanna Duggar, remained close to Mary Duggar until her death.

Amy Duggar King was right

Amy Duggar King has plenty of critics, but few people can deny that her gut feeling was correct. While Josh has been living inside a federal prison since 2022 for receiving and possessing child pornography, he is not the only Duggar sibling who has had a scrape with the law. Joseph Duggar, Josh’s younger brother, was arrested in March on charges stemming from an incident in Florida in 2020. Joseph has been charged with lewd and lascivious behavior after a teenage girl told police in Tontitown, Arkansas, that Joseph touched her inappropriately multiple times during a family vacation. The teenager was just nine years old when the incidents occurred.

Joseph is currently out on bail as he awaits trial in Panama City, Florida. Still, he could face decades in prison if convicted. While the news of Joseph’s arrest shocked fans and even Duggar family critics, it apparently didn’t shock Amy Duggar King. It seems she’s been bracing herself for this to happen for years. Scarily, she seems pretty confident that this might not end with Joseph. For now, Joseph and Josh are the only two Duggars who have been accused of sexual misconduct, though.
