‘Huge Punch to the Gut’: Meghan Markle’s Homesickness Grows as Cotswolds Life Hits a Sour Note With Locals Turning Cold
Meghan Markle has reportedly been to local pubs three times in just two weeks. She’s also been spotted at a farm shop and Soho Farmhouse while Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are at school. However, according to Heat World, a local pub allegedly refused to serve Markle when she visited with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.
One resident was reportedly quoted as saying, “People really just don’t like her.” The report also claimed some locals find Markle’s security entourage “terribly inconvenient and annoying.” Staff at a nearby farm shop allegedly “just ignore her.” An insider said Prince Harry encouraged Markle to visit the pub to lift her spirits.

She reportedly enjoyed the outing until she heard the criticism. “They were all nice to her face, so to hear that people felt this way was a huge punch to the gut for her,” the insider stated. This came after Markle reportedly missed her California life after returning to Britain with Harry and their children.
The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly finding it hard to settle into the Cotswolds. She also missed her Montecito home, her friends, and her mother, Doria Ragland. That’s when the 45-year-old reportedly visited local pubs with friends DeGeneres and de Rossi. She also enjoyed fish and chips with close friend Kelly Zajfen.
A tipster said, “Meghan is doing her best to keep her chin up and put on a happy face for Harry because he’s been begging her to cheer up and have some patience, but all the pub lunches in the world aren’t going to change the fact that she is desperately homesick already.”
The source added that Zajfen visited with her husband and children to help Markle through the move. Markle’s homesickness has also come up through her recent work. She promoted As Ever’s Christmas advent calendar on social media. The product features an illustration reportedly inspired by the Sussexes’ Montecito home.
“The uncomfortable truth is that Meghan’s struggling with the stuffiness and slow pace of the U.K., so this isn’t something that can really be fixed,” the insider said. Harry, on the other hand, has kept busy with public engagements. His recent activities included the Invictus Spirit Awards and a Birmingham school visit.
He then traveled to New York for a conference before heading to Canada. According to the source, Harry wants Markle to ignore the criticism. “Harry doesn’t pay this sort of thing any attention; he says it’s not worth it. He keeps telling her to hold her head high and not let these people win, but that’s easier said than done,” the source said.
The source claimed Markle would ideally like to move back to California within the next year. “She’s already counting down the days until she can get back to California for a visit and recharge,” the insider continued.
Harry reportedly wants to stay in Britain, though neither has confirmed those plans publicly. Also, with Christmas approaching, the couple reportedly may spend the holidays with Ragland rather than the royal family’s gathering at Sandringham. Harry’s ongoing rift with Prince William adds to the uncertainty around their holiday plans.
