Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly aren’t planning to apologize to Prince William and Kate Middleton. According to People, a source close to the couple has called the whole apology claim “nonsense.” The story came from the U.K.’s Express on October 6.

It claimed Harry and Markle wanted to make peace with the Waleses. The apology was reportedly about their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview. The couple reportedly regretted doing it. They felt they had “taken things too far.”

The insider said, “Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the UK that they would need to eat humble pie.” The source then added, “Harry was angry with his family at the time, and backed Meghan up, but they now realise what a low blow it was.”

It continued, “They both know they’re hot-headed and realise they took things too far, and they should have kept quiet. They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologise.”

Tom Sykes also dismissed the apology claims. “It is total rubbish,” the royal journalist told Page Six. Sykes then added, “Harry has always said he will never apologize for anything.” The royal commentator Kinsey Schofield also doesn’t believe the apology story. “My own sources have told me this story is absolutely not true,” she told the same outlet.

Schofield also noted Harry and Markle remain “defiant.” She also questioned the idea that they now regret the interview. “If anything, the pattern has remained consistent. I would treat claims that they now regret Oprah and are preparing to ‘eat crow’ with serious skepticism,” she said.

The Express article also focused on Markle’s comments about Archie. During a 2021 interview, Markle said there had been “concerns and conversations” about how dark Archie’s skin color might be before he was born. The interview came after Harry and Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020. They later moved to California.

But the family fallout didn’t end there. The Sussexes spoke about their royal lives in their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, too. The Duke also made more claims about his family in his 2023 memoir, Spare. Since then, Harry and William have remained estranged.

According to People, there was still “no movement” between them. Sources haven’t ruled out the possibility that things could change later. “In time, there is a chance it will all heal,” the tipster stated.

However, Harry still wants to fix things with his family. In a May 2025 BBC interview, he said he would “love reconciliation.” He also admitted that tensions were still there. But his relationship with King Charles seems to be different. Charles reunited with Harry, Markle, Archie, and Lilibet at Highgrove in July 2026.

Meanwhile, Harry and Markle’s return to Britain has also brought the family tension back. “It’s been magnified,” a palace insider previously told People. “When they were in California, and you gazed through the looking glass, you couldn’t see it so well, but it is right back in front of them.”
