Prince Harry is reportedly “walking on eggshells” around Meghan Markle after Chelsy Davy opened up about marriage. Davy recently spoke about it in a personal blog post on her jewelry brand, Aya’s website, titled Ten Years of Aya.

“Marriage and motherhood had never been particularly high on my to-do list,” she wrote. Davy explained that she had spent much of her adult life avoiding “permanence, responsibility, roots.” Davy then said that her views changed after she met her husband, Sam Cutmore-Scott.

“It wasn’t that I suddenly developed some great romantic vision of settling down. It was much more instinctive than that. I met Sam and, for the first time, I knew I wanted a family, specifically with him,” she added.

Her comments have reportedly made Harry think about their past. According to New Idea, a source alleged, “Harry will always have a soft spot for Chelsy and even Meghan knows it.” The insider added, “It’s impossible to not feel sorry for him – Chelsy’s blog will hurt him in a way he can’t talk about with anyone – while putting him in the doghouse with Meghan.”

Harry and Davy dated on and off from 2004 until 2011. Davy later spoke about the media attention in a 2016 interview with The Times. She described it as “so full-on,” adding that it was “crazy and scary and uncomfortable.”

Harry has spoken about how the media pressure affected his relationship with Davy. During his 2023 case against Mirror Group Newspapers, he said press intrusion put “a huge amount of unnecessary stress and strain” on them. It reportedly played a part in their breakup.

The Duke later opened up about the pressure in his memoir, Spare. “The whole world isn’t made to put up with constant scrutiny,” he wrote. “I don’t know if Chels could bear it, and I couldn’t ask her to.” After they split, Davy mostly stayed out of the spotlight and focused on her jewelry brand.

She started the Africa-inspired label in 2016 after developing an interest in African gemstones while traveling in Africa. It has since moved into custom pieces and lab-grown stones. Davy now lives in Mauritius with her husband, Cutmore-Scott, and their three children. They have Leo, 4, Chloe, 3, and six-month-old Finn.

After Davy, Harry later dated Cressida Bonas from 2012 to 2014. He then met Markle through a mutual friend in July 2016. But Harry and Davy stayed on good terms after their split. She even went to his 2018 wedding to Markle at St George’s Chapel. Meanwhile, Harry and Markle are now trying to get used to life back in Britain.

They returned to the U.K. with Archie and Lilibet in August 2026, around six years after moving to the U.S. The family is expected to stay in Britain for a while. But they’ll still have their home in Montecito. Their children have also started school in the U.K.
