King Charles may want to support Prince Harry as Meghan Markle faces fresh family tensions. However, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield thinks the King would keep any support “private.” The controversy involves Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., who is under investigation in the Philippines.

Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., reportedly found suspected child s—– abuse images while clearing out their father’s old home in Cebu. He reportedly contacted Philippine police and the FBI.

Schofield told Fox News Digital that Charles is in “a difficult position.” She thinks he would want to support Harry as a father. After all, Schofield noted that Charles walked Markle down the aisle at her May 2018 wedding. Markle’s own father couldn’t attend the ceremony.

Harry has spoken openly about royal family issues in interviews, documentaries, and his memoir, Spare. His comments have added to tensions with other royals. This is why Schofield thinks, “The king would be reluctant to have a sensitive conversation on this topic with Prince Harry without reassurance that it would remain private.”

As for Prince William’s involvement, Schofield said, “Don’t expect him to get involved.” She added, “This is not his fight. The palace has already established that Harry and Meghan are private citizens who do not represent the crown. This is a matter for the Sussex household.

Meghan, however, addressed the allegations in a statement to Fox News Digital on October 23. She hasn’t spoken to her father in years. “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours. My thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” she said.

She also explained why she kept her father away from Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duchess said she made that decision to protect her children. Her statement added, “My sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served. The priority should be keeping innocent children safe and protected.”

She also said she received a letter containing disturbing allegations about him. The letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and its Royalty and Specialist Protection Command. Officials later shared it with her. Thomas Sr. has strongly denied the allegations. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said he was “shocked and hurt.”

He added, “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of. This is bullsh–t. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick.” The Metropolitan Police has also faced questions over its handling of the earlier letter. On October 29, the force confirmed its referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Commander Adam Slonecki said the Met shared the letter with Harry and Markle’s office. However, it didn’t share the allegations with other law enforcement agencies at the time. The force now plans to refer the allegations to relevant overseas authorities. The investigation in the Philippines remains ongoing.
