Prince Harry ‘Raging’ as Prince William Could ‘Outclass’ Him With Diana Tribute Card He Can’t Play
Prince Harry is reportedly “raging” over Prince William’s possible tribute to Princess Diana. A RadarOnline source claimed William has one “card available” that Harry simply can’t “play.” Harry can make “a documentary, give interviews and celebrate Diana’s humanitarian legacy.”
William, as heir to the throne, has a “completely different kind of influence within the monarchy.” The claim came as Harry is reportedly looking at ways to mark 30 years since Diana’s death in a 1997 car crash. A documentary is reportedly one of the ideas he’s considering.
The Duke had reportedly contacted people who knew his mother while looking at ideas for the anniversary. But nothing has been confirmed yet. Harry returned to the U.K. with Meghan Markle and their two children at the end of August 2026. The family had spent six years living in the U.S.
Meanwhile, William could mark it in his own way. According to the same outlet, William may consider restoring Diana’s HRH style. Diana lost it after divorcing then-Prince Charles in 1996. She was still known as Diana, Princess of Wales. The Royal Family’s website confirms she stopped using “Her Royal Highness” after the divorce.
U.K. Parliament records also confirm that the 1996 Letters Patent removed the HRH style from former wives of sons of the sovereign. The title issue has also come up in claims made by Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer. According to him, Queen Elizabeth II once offered to give Diana her HRH style back after her death.
He made the claim in his memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Spencer said that the Queen didn’t tell him directly. Her private secretary, Robert Fellowes, passed on the message after Diana’s funeral in 1997. “I have just received a call from Her Majesty,” Fellowes reportedly told him.
He added, “and she would like to offer Diana her HRH title back.” Spencer turned it down. He felt there wasn’t much point in giving Diana the title back after she had already died. Later, though, he reportedly wondered if he had made the right call. He thought William and Harry might have appreciated the gesture.
Still, the RadarOnline source said restoring the title could mean more than a TV project. “If William can ultimately help restore something that was taken away from their mother, Harry sees that as an incredibly tangible gesture.”
The tipster added, “A television program comes and goes, whereas putting HRH Diana back into the historical record would endure. From Harry’s perspective, it risks making anything he produces look secondary.” The source also claimed Harry doesn’t “want remembering Diana to become some competition between brothers.”
But he allegedly doesn’t want “to feel that William has outclassed and outdone him with the one tribute Harry could never deliver himself.” Harry and William have remembered Diana together before. In 2017, the brothers appeared in Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. The documentary marked 20 years since Diana’s death. Their relationship has since become strained.
