Prince William’s Brutal One-Word Nickname For Prince Harry And Charles Spencer Revealed
Prince William had reportedly called Prince Harry and Charles Spencer “traitors.” A HeatWorld source claimed, “William is seeing this alliance that Harry has formed with their uncle and it’s got him incensed and calling both Harry and Earl Spencer traitors.”
It came after Spencer’s memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, made several claims about King Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage. One of the claims concerns the events following Diana’s death in 1997. Spencer said he objected to William and Harry, who were 15 and 12 at the time, walking behind their mother’s coffin.
According to Spencer, Charles called him and said, “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough.” Diana’s brother later related the claim in a BBC interview. He said, “I was hyper-alert to what he was saying, and those are precisely the words he said. And I promise that to you now. Genuinely, that is what he said.”
Buckingham Palace pushed back on Spencer’s version. A palace spokesperson said grief can “cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory.” Spencer also wrote that Charles sounded “giddily elated” when they spoke after Diana’s death.
The book looks at Diana’s unhappy marriage and her relationship with the royal family. Spencer told People, “If I wanted to write a scandalous book about Prince Charles or King Charles as he is now, it would really be a jaw-dropper, but I’m not here to do that.”
Moreover, he told the outlet that he kept the tell-all private while writing it. William and Harry only found out about it later. “All four of them, I told them exactly the same time. And I can say that Harry is completely fine about it,” he added.
He also told CBS Mornings, “I didn’t tell any of the family until just before it was released publicly as a thing because I didn’t want anyone to think—particularly with Harry, who people know I had to stay in the summer—that he was in any way involved in this. It was really important for me that they weren’t.”
Spencer said Harry asked if there was anything “embarrassing” about him in the book. Spencer said there wasn’t. He reportedly reassured the brothers that they were mainly included as Diana’s sons. The 62-year-old said he wasn’t sharing anything that would compromise their “privacy.”
But there is a separate claim about Harry getting the book early. According to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice report, a source claimed, “Harry had the book weeks ago. Charles Spencer wanted Harry to understand exactly what he was going to say about Diana before the world read it. Harry was brought inside the circle. William was kept outside it.”
The insider continued, “That’s what really stings. This wasn’t just Harry being shown a manuscript. It was a statement about trust. Nearly 30 years after Diana’s death, the divisions inside her family are still painfully alive.” According to Town & Country, Harry discussed the memoir with Spencer during his visit to Althorp.
