Prince Harry’s Secret NYC Getaway Raises Eyebrows Days After Sussexes’ UK Move
Prince Harry does not seem to be backing down despite being a “private citizen” in the U.K. While the Duke of Sussex no longer holds the status of any other working senior royal, his celebrity status has gotten him to bag many public appearance opportunities. Following his return to the U.K., the Duke recently traveled to New York for a rather secret meeting.
His meeting in New York was reportedly related to his business. According to People, the Duke was spotted at Lotte New York Palace, a luxurious hotel in Midtown Manhattan, on November 2. An insider claimed that the 42-year-old was in the iconic Gold Room of the hotel, talking to another individual.
The source revealed that the nature of the meeting appeared to be business. A spokesperson for Harry confirmed it was not the only meeting the Duke had in the Big Apple. “The Duke had a number of meetings in New York focused on new business opportunities and partnerships,” they shared. The spokesperson continued to note, “Further details will be shared in due course.”
Harry has been making many efforts in the business world and nonprofit organizations. A few months ago, he visited Washington, D.C. to meet with veterans and military spouses. The meeting was held by The Independence Fund, a nonprofit that supports wounded officials.
The Duke spoke about the recognition of skills and experiences that such veterans hold. Being a former military man himself, Harry announced that he was working toward developing a commercial initiative for such veterans. He noted that it would “really value those who served rather than expect them to volunteer.”
It was not revealed whether the Duke’s latest meeting was related to the content of his previous Washington, D.C. visit. However, the last time he officially visited New York was in September to attend the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting.
By November 4, Harry returned to London and delivered a keynote speech at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. Despite remaining private citizens, Harry and Meghan Markle have been continuously making high-profile public appearances. According to the Express, they have also announced their first international engagement after settling down in their homeland.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel to Brussels for the launch of The Lost Screen Memorial. It was designed as a reminder of the children and families who were victims of online harm. The couple has been long associated with the movement, with Markle also attending the opening of a similar screen in Geneva.
She delivered an emotional speech at the time, highlighting online harms linked to social media. “Children today are being shaped by systems designed to capture attention at any cost,” Markle said. She continued, “Relentless algorithms, exploitative engagement, and endless exposure to harmful content that they are not seeking out.”
During the upcoming event, the couple will deliver keynote speeches alongside other dignitaries. With their remarks, they will address the “importance of turning commitments into meaningful action and ensuring that the experiences of children and their families remain central to decisions about the digital future.” One of the parents will also deliver a testimony to conclude the event.
