Meghan Markle ‘Deeply Unhappy,’ Considering Leaving Harry Behind in U.K.
Meghan Markle may be regretting her move back to the U.K., if rumors are to be believed.
Over the summer, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, stunned royal followers when they announced that they would relocate from Southern California to the United Kingdom.
The pair arrived in England in August, settling into a new home in the Cotswolds and enrolling their two young children in school. But just months later, Meghan is said to be dissatisfied with the major life change.
“Meghan’s deeply unhappy in the U.K., and feels embarrassed about how things have turned out. They’ve put themselves out there, only to face more criticism and humiliation,” an anonymous source recently told Heat.
One reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to return to the country they fled in 2020 was to be closer to his family, particularly his father, King Charles III. But since moving back, there’s been no word of them meeting face-to-face with Charles or Harry’s other relatives. (The couple and their kids did meet with Charles in July 2026, prior to their move.)
Now, the former Suits star is wondering if the move may have been a mistake and considering her next steps.
“If the royals don’t want them, Meghan wants to go back to America, pursue her Hollywood ambitions, and build a life where she doesn’t need their approval,” the insider said. “She wants Harry to understand the difference between leaving the door open to his family and allowing their entire future to revolve around whether they eventually decide to let them back in.”
Meghan does not want to “sacrifice” opportunities to “build the career she believes she’s capable of having,” the person added.
Her solution? Harry can spend more time in the U.K. if he wants, but she might not be with him.
“Meghan’s suggested they spend significant periods living separate lives in different countries—but she doesn’t see that as meaning their marriage has to suffer.”
While Meghan Markle is continuing to focus on her As Ever brand, she may also want to get back into acting. Soon after she returned to England, rumors surfaced that she was in the running for a role in the next season of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, though her casting is now off the table, according to People. But there could be other roles on the horizon, she believes.
“Meghan feels there might be a real opportunity to get back into it,” the source said. “She’s wondering whether this could be her chance to reclaim her career and finally prove that she can succeed in Hollywood on her own terms.”
Meghan’s next gig will take her away from the U.K. She’s set to co-host Junior MasterChef Australia in 2027, according to Deadline.
