Prince William Is ‘Willing to Speak’ to Prince Harry but Draws a Line With One Demand Before Reconciliation
Prince William is reportedly ready to speak to Prince Harry again. But he has one condition. According to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice, William wants Markle to keep Kate Middleton and his children out of their family disputes.
“William is willing to speak to Harry, but he wants Catherine and his children kept out of Meghan’s mouth,” the source claimed. The insider added, “No public comments, no private briefings, no dragging his wife or children into their grievances. They’re off-limits.”
The brothers are reportedly considering a private phone or video call. However, their wives and children reportedly wouldn’t join them. An unnamed royal insider told Shuter that the brothers’ feud was making them look immature.
“This cannot continue. Two grown men avoiding each other is making them both look petty and foolish. Their feud has become a national joke,” the source said. The tipster also claimed, “They’re being laughed at,” as “This is the future King and his brother. Not two schoolboys refusing to sit together at lunch.” The source then added, “Somebody has to grow up.”
The feud has even become a subject for television comedy. On October 10, SNL UK mocked the royal family’s tensions in a fictional reunion at Sandringham. The sketch featured actors playing William, Harry, Middleton, and Markle. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arranged the awkward meeting in the parody.
Harry has also spoken publicly about his relationship with William. In his 2023 memoir, Spare, he described private disagreements involving William and Middleton. In it, Harry also detailed a physical fight with William. He said it happened in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage in London.
According to Harry, the argument started when William called Markle “difficult”, “rude,” and “abrasive.” Harry claimed, “He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me.” Harry stated that William, however, apologized later.
The Sussexes also discussed their experiences with the royal family during their March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Shuter’s recent report suggested Harry was more eager to fix their relationship. “Harry wants his brother back,” the insider claimed.
The Duke has also previously spoken about wanting to repair his relationship with William. In a January 2023 ITV interview, he said he wanted “to have his brother back.” He repeated that wish during a June 2023 interview with Anderson Cooper, saying, “I look forward to having a relationship with my brother.”
Then, in May 2025, Harry told the BBC, “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight any more. Life is precious.” William, however, reportedly “wants Catherine and his children left alone. They can rebuild their relationship, but William will not allow his family to become collateral damage again.”
Shuter’s earlier report on October 5 claimed Harry had tried to contact William, but he wasn’t “responding.” It added that there is no “meaningful communication” between them. The report also noted that King Charles is “willing to move forward,” but William is not.
