Queen Camilla has reportedly been urged to “swallow her pride” and fix things with Kate Middleton. A source told Closer that Camilla “can practically feel” Middleton and Prince William “breathing down her neck.”

The source claimed she now sees Middleton as important to her future role in the monarchy. “No matter how wary Camilla may be towards Kate, she genuinely can’t afford to have her as an enemy,” the source said. “For one thing, Charles has a huge amount of respect and love for Kate, so bickering with her doesn’t go over well with him,” the insider added.

The source also claimed that William’s feelings could make things harder for Camilla. “But even more crucial is how William feels and she’s simply never going to get anywhere with him if she isn’t on decent terms with Kate,” the source noted.

Camilla’s reported worry goes beyond her relationship with Middleton. The source claimed, “The sad reality is that she may need his help a lot sooner than she would like. Her worst possible nightmare is being booted out and having zero role in the Firm.”

According to the insider, Camilla “wants to strike some sort of compromise that would allow her to hold onto all her perks and privileges when the time comes.” The insider claimed Camilla reluctantly accepted that “the only way to make that even a remote possibility is to start being nice to Kate.”

The latest Closer report follows another story from August 27. It also focused on Camilla’s alleged worries about William and Middleton. An unnamed insider told the outlet that Camilla is “incredibly protective of her position” and allegedly fears William and Middleton will “push [her] as far to the side as possible” once they become King and Queen.

The source also claimed, “It’s no secret that she and William clash quite badly and she’s had her spats with Kate as well so they’re never going to be close.” There is no confirmation of a feud between Camilla and Middleton. But reports of tension between the two have surfaced before.

In November 2024, an anonymous source told Us that Camilla “loves her responsibilities” and that “Her whole life, she has always wanted to be queen, so she doesn’t want to let it go so fast.” The source also claimed Camilla was “hesitant to pass on her duties to Kate” because they had “always had a ‘tense relationship.’”

Meanwhile, William remains first in line to the British throne. His children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, follow him in the line of succession. Middleton is William’s wife and the Princess of Wales. So, if William becomes King, she would be expected to become Queen Consort.

William and Middleton married in April 2011, when he was the Duke of Cambridge, and she became the Duchess of Cambridge. Camilla became Queen when Charles took the throne after Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022. Camilla married Charles in 2005, when he was still Prince of Wales, and she became the Duchess of Cornwall.
