Shailene Woodley’s Friends Are ‘Alarmed’ Aaron Rodgers Is Reopening Their Years-Old Split
Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers ended their engagement in 2022, not long after he popped the question. The pair reportedly had an amicable split, but recent comments by Rodgers cast doubt on this. He claimed Woodley wanted to cheat on him and shouldn’t have accepted his proposal. Her friends are reportedly concerned that he is talking about her so long after their breakup.
Aaron Rodgers criticized Shailene Woodley on a podcast
Rodgers and Woodley began dating in 2020. He proposed in 2021, but they ended their engagement in 2022. He recently said that she should have turned him down.
“I propose, and she says yes,” he said on the Not Just Football with Cam Heyward podcast. “She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no.”
Rodgers also claimed that Woodley wanted to pursue a physical relationship with another man before they tied the knot.
“Not a couple days after that, she tells me, you know, ‘Before we get married I got to go f*** this guy,’” he said.
According to Rodgers, Woodley stopped wearing her ring not long after he proposed. He said that this was the beginning of the end of their relationship.
“Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her a crazy depression because I left her,” Rodgers said. “We had a couple of times where we tried to, you know, get reunited, and nothing ever happened.”
He also claimed that Woodley and Danica Patrick’s assertions that he was a “monster” in their relationships were “horses***.”
“I dated two women who nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name,” he said.
Shailene Woodley’s friends are reportedly concerned about Aaron Rodgers’ remarks
Rodgers reportedly married another woman. According to the actress’ friends, the former couple hasn’t spoken in years. As a result, they aren’t sure why he’s bringing up their relationship.
“We’re questioning why a married dude is bringing up an ex he hasn’t spoken with in over 2 years,” one of her friends told TMZ.
They say that Woodley holds no ill will toward Rodgers and does not speak badly about him. When asked to comment on Rodgers’ remarks at a pre-Emmys fundraiser, Woodley just laughed.
She called their split traumatic
While she did not go into detail about the split, Woodley said it was hard on her.
“I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022,” she told Outside Magazine in 2024, adding, “I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy. I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”
She added that she chose to remain in a “toxic situation” because of the empathy she felt for “someone else.”
