‘Summer House’ Reunion: Amanda Batula’s Body Language ‘Incredibly Dishonest,’ Expert Says
Ciara Miller didn’t hold back at the Summer House reunion.
On Tuesday, the first part of the much-anticipated cast sit-down aired on Bravo. Amanda Batula and her new man, West Wilson, attempted to explain their romance’s questionable timeline. But Ciara clearly wasn’t buying the story her ex and her former best friend were spinning.
“I think the problem is now you lie about your life,” she told West at one point. “You lie about who you are. I think you’re the most fraudulent person sitting on this couch. We’ve been here three years now. I don’t know anybody really, truly knows who you are. You live a different f*cking life off camera than you do on camera.”
Ciara Miller’s body language at the ‘Summer House’ reunion is ‘natural [and] authentic’
When it comes to truth-telling, Ciara is the most honest person in this awkward love triangle, body language expert Inbaal Honigman (in collaboration with casino.org) told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“Ciara describes for Andy when she first suspected West and Amanda, and at first her body language is fairly neutral,” Honigman said. “When she mentions that Amanda’s location was at West’s house, Ciara lowers her eyes, clearly pained by the memory. Amanda, on the other hand, nods enthusiastically, her eyes wide with defiance, like she’s mocking the situation.
“Ciara’s natural, authentic body language makes her seem credible, while Amanda’s wide-eyed defensiveness and exaggerated gestures come across as incredibly dishonest,” she continued.
Later, host Andy Cohen directly asked Amanda when her relationship with West went from platonic to something more. While she insists they didn’t start having sex until after they released their public statement, that’s not entirely convincing.
“When Andy directly asks Amanda whether she and West were hooking up while she insisted they were just friends, Amanda claims it was all PG,” Honigman said. “But her body language feels uneven and conflicted, giving the impression that she’s concealing something. She’s seen looking away from the others and rolling her tongue inside her mouth, a subtle behavior that suggests her personal version of the truth is not the real truth.”
West Wilson is ‘holding something back’
Despite his key role in the triangle, West tries to stay out of the Amanda-Ciara drama. But he manages to give off some subtle clues that suggest he and Amanda aren’t be totally honest about their history together.
“West, whose role in the conversation seems largely decorative, is shown lacing his hands together in front of him, a gesture often associated with holding something back,” Honigman observed.
Moreover, West’s passive attitude at the reunion suggests that he’s lukewarm about his romance with Amanda
“West choosing to stay silent while Amanda gets completely torn apart on her own is awful, yet Amanda barely seems to care that he’s leaving her to fend for herself,” Honigman said. “It suggests there’s no real bond of trust, loyalty, or shared fate between them. They don’t come across as a genuine couple at all.”
The Summer House Season 10 reunion continues Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Uncensored and extended versions of all three parts will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
