It has been just one month since Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky’s split went public. Now they are addressing what went wrong and how they are moving through the process. The duo addressed the split directly on the August 5 episode of Your Mom’s House, the podcast she and Segura have co-hosted since 2010. Pazsitzky got emotional as she confirmed the news to longtime listeners. “Tom and I are divorcing, and it is extremely sad,” she said, fighting back tears. “I didn’t know I was going to cry this soon. It is very sad.”
Pazsitzky went on to explain that the decision to split was made over a series of years, and that there was no one-off event that led to the demise of their longstanding marriage. She went on to say, “That being said, we have tried to work it out for several, several years for the sake of our children and our family. And we gave it all we could, but we just couldn’t work things out.”
Pazsitzky didn’t go into detail on what those marital issues were, or how they first came about, stressing that their focus remains on their children. She reflected fondly on everything she and Segura had built together over the years, from their early days as two broke comics living in Silver Lake to the launch of one of the most successful podcast networks in comedy.
How the news first broke
Word of the split first surfaced on July 13, when TMZ reported that Segura and Pazsitzky had quietly separated after 18 years of marriage. Initially, sources described the breakup as completely amicable and noted it had happened within the previous couple of months. The pair married in November 2008 and share two sons, Ellis, born in 2016, and Julian, born in 2018.
Pazsitzky first acknowledged the split publicly on July 18, sharing a handwritten note on her Instagram Story thanking fans for their support and calling it “a really difficult time for our family.”
Segura addressed the split himself for the first time on the August 12 episode of Your Mom’s House, describing the separation as a “horrible experience” and an emotional rollercoaster. He also pushed back on the narrative that he’d left Pazsitzky to address the breakup alone, revealing the two have actually been filming episodes of the podcast separately for months, since the split itself isn’t new to them even though it only recently became public. Segura said the breakup has been painful, but noted that he and Pazsitzky still fully support each other and talk every day, with their focus remaining on giving their sons the best life possible.
Both comedians have said their focus going forward is on their sons and maintaining their business relationship. It is unclear if the pair, who married before their careers really took off, have a prenuptial agreement.
