A new docuseries will take a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most influential talk shows in TV history.

The series, which is tentatively titled, Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show, will debut on Peacock sometime in 2027, Deadline reported Monday.

‘Clap If You Care’ will offer a behind-the-scenes look at ‘The Wendy Williams Show’

Suzzanne Bass, an executive producer on the syndicated talk show, will be be an EP on the series. Clap If You Care will feature first-hand insight from Bass and 20 other former staffers from the talk show, who will open up about what it was like to work with Williams.

Moving from radio to television in 2008, Williams shot new life into the daytime talk genre with her outrageous and often controversial takes. The documentary will explore her cultural impact while also looking at the circumstances that led to her exit from the show in 2021 and its eventual cancellation.

Williams’ departure from daytime TV came amid mounting concern about her health. In early 2022, she lost control of her bank accounts and was placed under a court-ordered guardianship. In 2024, her medical care team revealed she had been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. That same year, a documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?, aired on Lifetime, even though her guardian sued in an attempt to stop the broadcast.

Wendy Williams spotted in rare outing in August 2026

Over the past couple of years, Williams has tried, so far unsuccessfully, to challenge her guardianship. She’s currently residing in an assisted living facility in New York City. On August 19, she was spotted on a rare outing with a male companion. When a paparazzi asked her about what she was “going through,” she had a simple reply (via Page Six).

“I want out!” the 62-year-old said.

Late last year, Williams’ attorney, Joe Tacopina, said a doctor who evaluated her determined she didn’t have frontotemporal dementia and that her past alcohol addiction likely played a role in her health struggles.

“There’s something called alcohol-induced dementia. That may have been something Wendy was suffering from back in [2023], 24. She was an alcoholic, no question about it,” Tacopina said during an interview with Nightline. “Wendy was drunk almost 24 hours a day. She looked like she needed help. She did need help. She needed alcohol rehabilitation.”
