After turning heads during the press tour for The Odyssey, Zendaya is driving beauty trends while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Her clothing and beauty looks take inspiration from the film. The way she wore her eyelashes on the red carpet sparked a great deal of interest online. A beauty expert shared how to get a similar look at home.

At a premiere for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zendaya opted for a wet, or spider lash, look. Her makeup artist, Ernesto Casillas, grouped her lashes together for a clumped look.

“Spider lashes offer a completely different approach to the traditional lash looks we’ve become accustomed to,” said Annabelle Taurua, a beauty expert at Fresha. “Rather than focusing on maximum volume and perfectly separated lashes, the trend embraces intentional clumping to create a more graphic, doll-like finish.”

Searches for this eyelash look jumped by 279%, coinciding with Zendaya wearing the look on the red carpet.

“Zendaya’s recent look is a great example of how celebrities can bring an existing beauty trend back into the mainstream,” Taurua explained.

People who want to try out a similar look at home will have to clump their lashes together intentionally. They can also use lash extensions if they work with a makeup artist.

“For anyone wanting to recreate the look, the key is making the clumping look intentional, Taurua explained. “A wet-look lash extension set is the easiest way to achieve this professionally, while at home, mascara can be concentrated through small sections of the lash line to create a softer, spiky effect.”
