Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are best known to fans around the world as the hosts of the reality series Nate & Jeremiah by Design, a popular reality series on the TLC network. The two talented designers share their lives with viewers on a weekly basis, always keeping things light, fun, and real. Still, there’s a whole other side to Berkus and Brent behind the scenes, as the co-stars and partners deal with raising their children all while juggling high-powered careers.

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are both interior designers

Nate Berkus first rose to fame in the early 2000s, after a series of high-profile appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Berkus has written several bestselling books, collaborated on exclusive product lines, and even hosted his very own talk show for a time. Berkus is noted for his skill at interior design as well as for his honest, fun-loving personality — a personality that is perfectly complemented by his partner, Jeremiah Brent.

As for Jeremiah Brent, he earned early acclaim due to his work with stylist Rachel Zoe and appeared on several episodes of The Rachel Zoe Project. He has also acted in a number of projects and collaborated on a few very successful interior design projects. Brent is also well-known for his work on Say I Do, a spinoff of the hugely popular series Queer Eye

In 2012, Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent began dating, after meeting through mutual friends. They dated for around a year before getting engaged in 2013, during a trip to Peru, according to House Beautiful. Their stunning wedding was held at the New York public library in May 2014 and featured high-profile guests like Berkus’ business associate and close friend, Oprah Winfrey

Berkus and Brent were happy to be partners, but not long after their wedding, they decided to join forces in a professional sense. In 2017, they launched their brand-new series, Nate & Jeremiah by Design. The show features both designers working with homeowners in order to help them achieve their renovation dreams. Viewers were drawn to the couple’s bright personalities and sense of fun — and the series became a hit. Nate & Jeremiah by Design continues to gain new fans, year after year, and is still going strong to this day, although coronavirus (COVID-19) has likely put a damper on the series, just as the pandemic has affected most television shows.

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent might be busy on-camera, but they have even more going on when they aren’t filming. Berkus and Brent have two young children, a daughter named Poppy, who was born via surrogate in March 2015, and a son named Oskar, born in March 2018. The two have opened up several times about their children, and about how it has been to welcome children later in life. As Berkus told Us Weekly, “there’s a really beautiful side to it because you have the opportunity, usually, to be more present and that’s all that matters. Your kids want to know that you can see them and that you care, and we’re fortunate enough to be able to do that.”

“They’re each their own individuals with their own personalities and own rhythm,” Brent stated in the same interview, likely echoing the sentiments of many parents all over the world. For Brent and Berkus, being transparent about parenthood is part of their journey and something that they are open to sharing with their fans.
