Andy Cohen Is as Confused as Everyone Else By Craig Conover’s New Peacock Microdrama
Bravo is jumping into the world of scripted microdramas, and the move has many people scratching their heads.
Last week, the network announced that Southern Charm’s Craig Conover would play the male lead in its first vertical series, Charmed By a Southern Monster. The series, which stars Conover as Hunter Caldwell and Nicole Mattox as Maeve Marchant, is a mix of soapy romance, workplace drama, and small-town mystery. It follows Maeve, a corporate fixer who is sent to seduce Hunter, who owns a property her company wants to acquire.
The first image for the series, which launches November 9 on the Peacock app, features a shirtless and chiseled Conover menacingly holding an ax in front of a Southern mansion draped in Spanish moss.
Bravo’s announcement of the new series was met with incredulity.
“Is it April fools day?? Because wtf is this…,” one person commented on Instagram after Bravo revealed the show’s artwork, which some suspected was AI-generated.
“Help. What am I looking at?” another wrote.
Even Bravo bigwig Cohen confessed he was confused by the show.
“It’s on Peacock. I mean, I’m like, ‘This is what you’re spending your money on?’” the Watch What Happens Live host said with a sigh during a recent episode of Andy Cohen Live on SiriusXM.
“I’m like, ‘Pick up Miami,’ he continued. “No, I’m like, ‘Pick up Miami Housewives.’”
Earlier this year, Bravo put The Real Housewives of Miami on pause, despite an outcry from loyal viewers.
“But anyway, they didn’t, and they’re doing these micro dramas, which I guess everyone’s watching,” Cohen added. “But I mean, Craig looks good … He does play a mute.”
Conover, meanwhile, addressed the reaction to Charmed by a Southern Monster’s viral artwork.
“We’re not the art department,” he said on the red carpet during Bravo’s FanFest 2026 in Charleston last weekend, with a laugh. “We don’t know what’s going to happen … I’m excited for the project. I love playing make-believe.”
Here’s the full synopsis for the show: “[Charmed By a Southern Monster] follows Maeve, a brilliant corporate fixer sent to convince and seduce Hunter, a rumored murderer, into selling his family’s estate. But when she discovers that the town’s most feared man may actually be its most misunderstood, and the only person who can protect her from her dangerous ex-boyfriend, Maeve becomes entangled in Hunter’s world. As family secrets and a billion-dollar development deal threaten to unravel their growing connection, she must confront her past and decide how much she’s willing to risk for love.”
Charmed By a Southern Monster premieres Monday, November 9 exclusively on the Peacock Mobile App
