Andy Cohen Exposes Luke Broderick’s ‘WWHL’ Demand That Left Kristen Doute in Tears
Luke Broderick has faced a significant amount of backlash for his treatment of fiancée Kristen Doute on this season of The Valley. Doute dealt with postpartum depression after the birth of their first child. On this season’s reunion, Cohen made the bombshell revelation that Broderick said he would only appear on Watch What Happens Live if Doute was not present.
Andy Cohen revealed a request Luke Broderick made about Kristen Doute
During the second part of The Valley season three’s reunion, Cohen revealed that Broderick made a comment about Doute to producers.
“You told my producers that you would only come if Kristen was not involved, that you needed a break,” Cohen said.
Doute quickly jumped in to clarify. She said that their nanny was out of town, and she’d sought flights to bring Broderick’s mother to New York with them.
“Do you want to say what you really said, or…?” she asked him. “He said, ‘I want to go to dinner and I want to enjoy New York, and I can’t enjoy New York if you and Kaia are there.”
Broderick said that Doute told him that she wanted to stay in the hotel room with their daughter.
“And I’m like, ‘This sounds like a miserable trip across the country, changing [Kaia’s] sleep schedule for less than 48 hours, three time zones away.’”
He also added that he felt he needed space from his future wife.
“Sometimes we need space,” he said. “And, honestly, jumping her three time zones, to not even get adjusted, and jump her back, we’ve got a week of fallout with our baby. On top of this… it wasn’t a good idea.”
As he spoke, Doute dabbed tears from her eyes. Broderick told her that he hadn’t realized this hurt her feelings.
“You didn’t come to me in a serious way that it hurt your feelings, and I am sorry that it did,” he told Doute. “You make light of it, and I’m sorry that I haven’t, like, read that it hurt you like that, like it did. And I’m sorry.”
Luke Broderick and Kristen Doute also put their wedding plans on pause
Broderick proposed to Doute during the second season of The Valley. They paused wedding planning after welcoming their daughter.
“Having a kid, you’re finding a whole new identity,” Broderick told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” in May. “You’re refiguring out your relationship, and I think rushing into having a wedding right now is the wrong move.”
Over a year and a half after his proposal, he said that they hadn’t done any wedding planning.
“No planning has been done. No planning has happened,” he said. “There’s been talk, no actual plans yet, of going to Nashville to look at venues. And that’d be like step one, seeing what venues we like, when they’re available, etc. That’s step one. That’s in the talking phase. It’s not on the calendar.”
