Britney Spears Once Said She Felt ‘Scared’ in Rehab
Britney Spears has entered rehab following her DUI arrest in March. Police arrested the singer after witnessing her driving erratically. At the time, her rep noted that she was taking steps to change her life. This month, she checked into a treatment facility. This is not Spears’ first time in rehab. She said that she felt “scared” during a past stay in a rehab facility.
Britney Spears checked herself into rehab following her DUI arrest
On March 4, police charged Spears with a DUI after finding her driving erratically outside of Los Angeles.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a representative for the singer told the LA Times in a statement. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully she can get the support she needs during this difficult time.”
On April 12, Spears checked herself into a treatment facility. Those close to her reportedly encouraged her to make this move.
“She understands the seriousness of her situation and felt this was the best step moving forward,” a source told People. “She’s now seeking treatment.”
Britney Spears spoke about a past experience in rehab
This is not the first time that Spears has spent time in rehab. In her book The Woman in Me, Spears claimed that her father forced her to go to rehab in 2014 for her use of energy supplements. While she said these were “over-the-counter, not prescription,” she admitted to abusing Adderall.
“I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I was hell on wheels,” she wrote. “I was taking a lot of Adderall.”
She admitted to feeling frightened during her stay at the Malibu facility.
“A lot of people at the facility were serious drug addicts,” she wrote. “I was scared to be there by myself. At least I was allowed to have a security guard, who I’d have lunch with every day.”
She accused her father of “selling himself as this amazing guy and devoted grandfather when he was throwing me away, putting me against my will into a place with crack and heroin addicts. I’ll just say it — he was horrible.”
She went to rehab again in 2019.
Kevin Federline said he is happy she went to rehab
Spears’ ex, Kevin Federline, recently published a tell-all memoir about his relationship with Spears. She slammed the book as a money-grab. Still, he is reportedly happy that his ex-wife is seeking help.
“Kevin is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab and that if she needs help, he is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others if it was,” his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ. “The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is that she follows it and completes it.”
Spears is currently scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
