D4vd is behind bars, awaiting trial on charges related to the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. While his parents are trying to keep a low profile, his younger brother, Caleb Burke, apparently is not. The younger Burke has been releasing original music on Spotify and Apple Music over the past few weeks. Going by the name Cara Kova, Caleb has been accused of trying to use the tragedy surrounding Hernandez’s murder and his brother’s suspected involvement to launch his own music career. Now, he’s speaking out, insisting that everyone has it all wrong.

Caleb Burke is accused of trying to launch a music career amid his brother’s murder trial

Caleb Burke, D4vd’s younger brother, is using his free time to post new music to Spotify and Apple Music, even as D4vd’s murder trial looms. TMZ reports that Caleb Burke, under the stage name Cara Kova, has released two songs in the last 30 days, both about sex and love.

The first song, “Imaginary Love,” was released one day before D4vd’s April 16 arrest on suspicion of murder. The second song, “S*x,” was released just a few days after D4vd made headlines and was officially charged. Caleb has also released several short video clips, suggesting he has more music on the horizon. Still, not everyone is sure that’s a good idea. The releases are generating a fair bit of criticism, but Caleb insists he is in the right.

Even if he’s not using the murder trial, his similarities to D4vd are in poor taste

The younger Burke took to social media to insist that the criticism is misguided. At the very least, Caleb is adamant that he’s been releasing music for years, and that D4vd’s murder trial has absolutely nothing to do with his new drops. That might be the case. It does appear that the 20-year-old Texas resident had an interest in music years before his brother was arrested. He even appeared alongside him at one point under the stage name Cvleb. Still, his uploads do feel like they are in poor taste.

Caleb Burke’s music is similar to his older brother’s, and the shorts he’s posted share a similar vibe and seemingly borrow the imagery D4vd was fond of in his music and videos. While Caleb Burke is not charged in connection with Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death, his tone-deaf uploads link him to his brother and his crimes, no matter how unfair that might seem. It certainly doesn’t seem like it was a good career decision. The drops probably could have waited until after his brother’s legal drama played out completely.

D4vd is due in court for a preliminary hearing on May 26. Right now, he’s being housed at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
