D4vd’s Parents Speak out Following His Arrest; Charges Loom
D4vd’s arrest in connection with Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death seems to have materialized out of nowhere. Despite that, the LAPD slapping handcuffs on the music artist was no big surprise. D4vd was pegged as the prime suspect on the same day that the remains were found inside his trunk, it seems. While the content creator has not yet been officially charged, that is likely to change soon. Now his parents are speaking out for the very first time.
D4vd’s parents speak out following his arrest
The investigation into Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death has stretched on for months. While online sleuths have been desperate for more information about the investigation, the LAPD has stayed exceedingly quiet. Those closest to Rivas Hernandez and D4vd have been extremely tight-lipped, too. Now that charges appear to be imminent, they are speaking out. D4vd’s parents, Dawud and Colleen Burke, have broken their silence for the first time.
The Burkes’ lawyer spoke directly with Rolling Stone days after D4vd’s arrest. Their representative told the outlet that while they are sad and disappointed over D4vd’s arrest, they believe he is innocent and plan to support him as he moves through the legal system. D4vd has a separate lawyer who has insisted the musician is not responsible for Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death. Both lawyers have opted not to address D4vd’s relationship with the teenager.
When was D4vd arrested?
D4vd was arrested on April 16. The 21-year-old was located by LAPD officers at a home he had been renting for several weeks. The home, which has a pretty famous pedigree, is just a couple of miles from where someone abandoned D4vd’s Tesla with the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez inside back in September.
While online sleuths had assumed D4vd left Los Angeles after breaking his lease early back in September, that doesn’t appear to have been the case. It is unclear how long he had been staying in the home where police arrested him. Although it went up for rent in September 2025, the rental listing wasn’t removed until March 2026.
While D4vd was arrested and is being held in a Los Angeles jail, he has yet to be officially charged with a crime. As of press time, he was being held on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held without bail. The district attorney is expected to file charges on April 20.
