Charli XCX and Taylor Swift are rumored to be at odds. According to a body language expert, this dynamic was on full display as Swift gave a speech at the VMAs. Swift thanked her fans for their support, and Charli didn’t seem impressed.

Charli XCX didn’t seem impressed by Taylor Swift’s VMAs speech

Swift received the inaugural Artist Directors Honors at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. During her speech, she thanked Swifties for supporting her career.

“The main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you — the fans — make it so much fun,” she said. “You make it so rewarding, because you actually care about what we’re making.”

Celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.ca said that Charli XCX took in her words with some level of distaste. 

“Charli XCX watches Taylor’s gushing tribute to the fans, her face the image of skepticism,” she explained. “Charli’s mouth is squeezed in a show of distaste, and her eyes glance sideways with mistrust.”

Honigman added that Charli didn’t seem to believe that Swift’s words were authentic.

“She finds Taylor’s proclamations fishy; she suspects that her stated adoration of the fans is not genuine or authentic.”

Rumors of a feud between Charli and Swift kicked off after the former released the song “Sympathy Is a Knife.” Many believed that this song was about her insecurities while being around the other artist. Swift appeared to respond with the song “Actually Romantic.”
