Ali Larter Defends Taylor Sheridan’s Writing Amid ‘Landman’ Backlash

Heading into season 3 of the Taylor Sheridan drama, Moore will be taking home somewhere between $740,000 and $770,000 per episode for playing M-Tex boss Cami Miller. That’s on par with what series star Billy Bob Thornton was already earning. It also reflects Moore’s newly central role in the series. When the show began, Cami was the socialite wife of M-Tex founder and CEO Monty Miller (Jon Hamm). After Monty’s death at the end of season 1, Cami stepped into a bigger role in both the business and on the show. That was all by design, Sheridan recently said.

“When I met with Demi, I told her, ‘You’re gonna be an extra in this show for seven episodes. You’re an extra. The critics are gonna come after me. I’m underutilizing this, I can’t write for women, all this nonsense,” the Yellowstone creator said on The Bill Simmons Podcast. “Then I’m gonna kill your husband and you’re gonna have to run the oil company.’ ”

The Oscar-nominated actress isn’t the only Landman cast member who got a salary increase. Ali Lartner, who plays Angela Norris, the ex-wife of Thornton’s Tommy Norris character, will earn more than $350,000 per episode.

Other Landman cast members have doubled their original salaries. Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph, who play Angela and Tommy’s two children, will earn between $130,000 and $180,000 an episode. Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, and James Jordan have also earned substantial raises.

‘Landman’ is one of Paramount+’s most successful shows

Landman has been a massive success for Paramount+. The drama set in the rough-and-tumble world of the Texas oil business has broken viewership records for the streaming. The season 2 premiere achieved over 9.2 million streaming views in its first two days on service. That’s up 262% from the season 1 premiere, making it the most watched premiere for any original series for Paramount+.

A premiere date for Landman Season 3 hasn’t been announced. Seasons 1 and 2 both premiered in November, meaning a November 2026 launch date could be in the cards for season 3. However, Thornton recently revealed during an appearance on Howie Mandel’s podcast that production on the new episodes wouldn’t begin until “the end of August.” That could delay Landman’s return until 2027.

Landman Season 2 ended with Tommy launching a new, independent, family-run oil company after Cami fired him from M-Tex oil.

Landman Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Paramount+.
