It has been nearly two months since Hayden Panettiere died of a drug overdose in a South Carolina apartment, just one day after flying to the state. Her death shocked fans and set off a wave of speculation about her final days, her relationships, and the entertainment industry as a whole. She has since been laid to rest, but her estate is far from settled. Her ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, has suggested something nefarious is going on. He is now asking for police help to investigate the disappearance of some of Panettiere’s belongings.

Wladimir Klitschko says someone is taking Hayden Panettiere’s belongings

Klitschko and Panettiere haven’t been together for years. Still, he is fighting to make sure their daughter, Kaya, receives what belonged to her mother. He’s taking that fight to court. In court documents obtained by TMZ, the former boxer states that a “non-family member previously connected to Hayden” sold items that belonged to her to a pawn shop. Klitschko added that he’s concerned more of Panettiere’s property could be improperly removed from the estate. The filings don’t name the person.

Klitschko is asking the court for the power to request a law enforcement investigation and to help recover anything that was taken, arguing that every missing item directly reduces what Kaya will inherit.

This isn’t Klitschko’s first attempt to address Panettiere’s estate. In a September filing, he said some of her jewelry and other personal items had disappeared or were unaccounted for. He also alleged that non-family members had accessed and destroyed some of her emails.

Hayden Panettiere died without a will

Klitschko’s filings are part of a complicated estate situation. Panettiere died without a will, which makes her daughter her sole heir. The 11-year-old stands to inherit Panettiere’s Los Angeles home, her assets and, in theory, all of her personal belongings.

The lack of a will is especially complicated because the sole heir is a minor. Kaya cannot act on her own behalf in probate. Her father has no standing in Panettiere’s estate on his own. Klitschko is asking to be appointed temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate so he can file the probate petition, nominate an administrator, and safeguard assets until that process is complete.

Kaya has lived with her father in Europe for several years. Panettiere gave Klitschko full custody in 2018, when Kaya was still a toddler. The late star was struggling with her mental health and substance abuse at the time. Panettiere spoke about the decision on several podcasts, saying that once she was healthy, it would have been unfair to pull her daughter away from the life she had built.

A separate dispute unrelated to Klitschko’s filing is also playing out. Panettiere’s parents, Lesley Vogel and Skip Panettiere, can’t agree on what should happen to the earrings Panettiere was wearing around the time of her death. Panettiere’s parents separated in 2008 and have been divorced since 2016.
