An infamous haunted house is getting a makeover. But will new decor and fresh paint be enough to scare off the current ghostly residents?

Bihl Manor is a “tormented mansion” in Fremont, Ohio, that will receive a top-to-bottom transformation in HGTV’s new show, A Very Haunted Renovation. The six-episode competition series hosted by Scream 7’s Anna Camp premieres September 15 and follows six brave designers who spend a month living in the house while also renovating the uncanny abode.

“Bihl Manor is one of the most haunted homes in America,” Camp said. “Unoccupied, falling apart and on the verge of demolition, no one is brave enough to step foot inside—until now.”

Just how haunted is Bihl Manor? Pretty haunted, according to those familiar with the property.

“I would see a man standing there, just looking out the window. Found out, there was nobody there. The house was empty,” recalls Beatriz, a former neighbor, in the trailer for the show.

Unfortunately, nobody bothered to mention the spectral inhabitants to current owner Karlo when he was buying the house. But it didn’t take him too long to find out that he was sharing his new home with some spooky occupants.

“I went down to the basement,” co-owner Heather shares. “I felt this cold finger go from my neck down to my back.”

“I want to save this house,” Karlo says. “But honestly, I don’t know how to. It’s hard to get contractors to do work here.”

Six designer compete for $50,000 in HGTV’s ‘A Very Haunted Renovation’

Enter the brave designers of A Very Haunted Renovation.

SK Stokes Kennedy, Patrick Peel, John Ryan, Bershan Shaw, Logan Wright and Diana Vogel will compete for a $50,000 prize. In each episode, they’ll face elimination challenges that test their nerve, creativity, and design skills as they work to bring the mansion’s spaces back from the dead.

For the first episode, the competitors split into two teams of three for a bedroom design battle. Each trio has just four days to complete a stylish makeover inspired by the spirits of Lizzie and Alvie Bihl, who are rumored to haunt the sleeping quarters.

Throughout the season, design expert Michel Smith Boyd will mentor the contestants and evaluate their efforts, with the help of guest judges, including production designer Hannah Beachler, paranormal investigator Jack Osbourne, actor Billy Porter, actress Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira), horror film director Eli Roth, and actor LuLu Wilson.

But as the contestants work to breath new life into Bihl Mansion, they’ll have to contend with all manner of creepy occurrences.

“I know that we are waking a little something,” one says.

“It’s almost like this house is saying, ‘Get out,’” another shares.

A Very Haunted Renovation premieres September 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.

Ahead of the series premiere, spooky home enthusiasts can watch HGTV’s original YouTube series Would You Buy This Haunted House? beginning Sept. 11. Episodes drop weekly on Friday episodes and follow psychic Steffi Hill stepping inside some of the most mysterious homes on the market to uncover hidden histories and attempt to communicate with whatever may still be lingering inside.
