These Hollywood Stars Are Expected to Attend Wimbledon This Year
Over the years, several sporting events have become the place for celebrities to see and be seen. Whether it’s a World Series game at Dodger Stadium, a Super Bowl being played in Southern California, or stars packing celebrity row at Madison Square Garden when the New York Knicks play, high-profile people have been attending high-profile events. Now, with Wimbledon almost upon us, we can expect to see more famous faces at the tennis tournament.
Nick Ede is a UK-based brand and culture expert and public relations specialist with over 20 years of experience in fashion and entertainment. He is a regular commentator on television and in the press. Alongside his media work, Ede runs a PR agency and is a dedicated charity campaigner, having raised significant funds and awareness for stroke charities through his initiative Style For Stroke. He was also once close friends with Meghan Markle.
Speaking on behalf of Cafe Casino, Ede told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Wimbledon always attracts a fascinating mix of Hollywood stars, British television personalities, musicians, and sporting legends. The tournament regularly welcomes familiar faces such as David Beckham, Tom Cruise, Cate Blanchett, Eddie Redmayne, Hannah Waddingham, Tom Holland, Theo James, Zendaya, and Olivia Rodrigo, alongside stars promoting current film and television projects.”
He continued, “Wimbledon occupies a unique position in British culture. It combines elite sport, heritage, celebrity, and fashion in one place. Unlike a red-carpet event, celebrities aren’t there specifically to promote a project, which means their style choices often feel more authentic and aspirational. Brands love Wimbledon because it creates a luxury lifestyle narrative, while celebrities enjoy the opportunity to showcase a more relaxed version of glamour.”
Ede also predicted who the best-dressed celebs at the event will be, opining, “David Beckham is always impeccable and understands the power of tailoring better than almost anyone. Sienna Miller consistently nails effortless British elegance, while Cate Blanchett regularly delivers sophisticated fashion moments. Among younger stars, Zendaya has become one of the most exciting fashion figures to watch, bringing a modern edge to traditional Wimbledon style.”
Members of the royal family will also be in attendance to catch a few matches during Wimbledon.
“The Princess of Wales is almost certain to attend given her role as Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club,” Ede noted, adding, “Prince William may join her, and we could also see Princess Charlotte, who appears to be developing a growing interest in the sport. King Charles and Queen Camilla have attended in previous years, while other members of the wider royal family often appear throughout the tournament.”
And which celeb would Ede like to see in the Royal Box this year?
“I’d love to see Meryl Streep enjoying Centre Court. She’s the definition of timeless style and would fit perfectly into the Wimbledon atmosphere,” he said. “It would also be fun to see Selena Gomez attend alongside her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short while they’re in the UK. George and Amal Clooney always bring elegance and star power wherever they go, while Sarah Jessica Parker would undoubtedly deliver a fashion masterclass. And if we’re dreaming big, seeing Taylor Swift or Madonna in the Royal Box would probably break the internet.”
