Selena Gomez is parting with a piece of Hollywood and rock-and-roll history. The singer and actress has put a property she’s owned since 2020 on the market for a cool $6.5 million.

So what do you get for that hefty price tag? Here’s a look inside the mansion and the answer to which late musician owned it before Gomez purchased it.

Gomez’s Encino property was once owned by a music icon

The property now up for sale is located in Encino, an affluent neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, and was custom-built for legendary rocker Tom Petty.

He owned the home for decades after having it built in 1989. The property remained in his family until it was sold in 2017, shortly before his death.

The estate spans nearly 11,500 square feet and sits on almost an acre of land. The three-level home features six bedrooms with eight-and-a-half bathrooms.

Gomez purchased the mansion in March 2020 for about $4.9 million. Since then, she has updated portions of the interior while preserving much of its character and architectural charm. The inside may look familiar to some of the star’s fans as it’s the filming location for her cooking series, Selena + Chef.

The house boasts several luxury amenities, including a home theater, a gym, a wine cellar, a recording booth, a glam room, a sauna, and a massage space. And that’s just the inside. Outside the property, you’ll find a resort-style pool and spa, a waterfall, a cabana, fire-pit seating, multiple areas for entertaining, and lush landscaping for maximum privacy.

The mansion offers more than just luxury living as it comes with a unique musical pedigree, having been home to both one of rock music’s most beloved songwriters and one of pop culture’s biggest modern stars. With its combination of celebrity history, privacy, and high-end amenities, the Encino estate remains one of the most distinctive homes currently on the Los Angeles market.

When Gomez and music producer Benny Blanco got engaged, they purchased a Beverly Hills estate together and made it their primary residence.

The pair’s abode sits on nearly one acre of land, and it’s one of the most expensive homes in that area. The 7,000-square-foot Spanish-style mansion has seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Not only that, but the estate includes two separate guesthouses, which boast a studio and home theater.

Some of the other features and amenities of Gomez and Blanco’s pad include a fitness center, a pool, a spa, a library, a grand swirling staircase, a formal dining room, a gourmet kitchen, private balconies, and a glass greenhouse solarium. There are also fountains outback and gardens that surround the property.

In addition to their new residence, the Only Murders in the Building star also owns a four-bedroom, four-bath, 3,500-square-foot property she purchased in Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills neighborhood in 2017 for $1.8 million. That estate is reportedly now occupied by her mother and stepfather.
