Michelle Obama Reveals Why She Could Never Be on ‘Real Housewives’
Michelle Obama is not interested in being part of the drama.
The former First Lady has made no secret of her love for reality TV, having admitted to binging on everything from Love & Hip Hop to HGTV’s House Hunters. And she’s also a fan of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. But even though Obama has been in the public eye for years, she doesn’t think she could handle the pressure of being a Housewife herself.
Michelle Obama has questions for the Real Housewives
Obama was recently a guest on the Lemme Say This podcast. One of the hosts asked which reality TV show cast she’d like to join.
“Oh my gosh,” Obama replied. “Oh, this is really hard. Um, gosh. I couldn’t do, in my opinion, I could not be a Real Housewife.”
“That’s a full-time job,” one of the hosts agreed.
The other host suggested that Obama could do well in a supporting role on a Housewives show.
“You’d be a really good Friend [of the cast] in Real Housewives,” she said. “Where you come in, make a little mess, and then come right out.”
But Obama said she thinks she’d do best sitting in Andy Cohen’s seat during the juicy and chaotic reunion episodes.
“If I’m gonna be there, I want to be there for the reunions only,” Obama said. “I have questions. I would just have questions. Like, why are we always here? Why can’t we work this stuff out? Ladies, come on now. We’re grown.”
Former First Lady wants to join ‘The Traitors’
Obama might not feel that she’s Housewife material. But the lawyer and author told co-hosts co-hosts Hunter Harris and Peyton Dix that she thinks she could thrive in a different kind of reality TV environment.
“I’ve been so into Traitors. I’ve thought about Traitors,” she said of the Peacock competition series hosted by Alan Cumming. “I think I would want to be a Faithful … I would want to be on Traitors and I would want to be a Faithful. And I would want to find the Traitor.”
The former FLOTUS sees herself as a Faithful. But is she really more the sneaky type?
“Do you think I’m more of a Traitor?” she asked.
It’s not a huge surprise that Obama is keeping up with the latest must-watch reality series. She’s previously referred to unscripted TV as a “sociological study” said that she has to “educate” her skeptical husband and her brother, Craig Robinson, about the latest developments in the Bravoverse.
“The truth is that they razz me about my love of reality TV and the Real Housewives” she said of the former POTUS and her siblings in a 2025 episode of her podcast, IMO With Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson. “I watch it all — all of it.”
