Jennifer Lopez Is Still Trying to Sell Her Megamansion After a ‘Prominent’ Buyer Pulls Out
Jennifer Lopez’s long and arduous road to selling the home she and Ben Affleck purchased together seems to be getting longer by the day. Days ago, reports emerged suggesting the iconic singer had finally found a buyer for the oversized property. Initial reports suggested it was a done deal, but days later, that buyer has backed out, leaving Lopez, once again, holding the bag on the megamansion. Here’s everything we know so far.
Jennifer Lopez’s Latest Real Estate Deal Falls Through
Jennifer Lopez seemed just about ready to wash her hands of the megamansion that was supposed to be her forever home with Ben Affleck. The home has turned into a nightmare, much like her short-lived marriage to Ben Affleck. Apparently, the lost deal is made even more heartbreaking because of how close she was to closing.
According to Branden Williams, a listing agent who spoke with the New York Post, J.Lo’s home had entered escrow, and everything was moving full steam ahead on July 13. Now two days later, the deal is off the table, and the buyer is out of contention. TMZ reports that the buyer had put down a substantial down payment, but exited for unknown reasons. The buyer’s identity remains private, but Williams did note that they were a “prominent” figure in the “tech and finance” space.
This is not the first time Lopez appeared close to offloading the Beverly Crest estate. There have been years of false starts, interested parties, and countless showings. Still, no one has followed through, even as Lopez continues to lower the price on the hilltop property.
Jennifer Lopez initially listed the 38,000-square-foot estate for $68 million in July 2024. From there, the asking price steadily slid, first to around $60 million, then to $52 million, before finally landing just under $50 million this spring. Lopez appears to be holding steady on that price, but that could change if another buyer doesn’t materialize soon.
The Home’s Complicated History
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck bought the property together in May 2023 for roughly $60.9 million, just months after their wedding, and poured millions more into renovations hoping to make it feel like home. Apparently, it never did. The marriage didn’t last, and Affleck moved out of the home in June 2024, just 13 months after purchasing the property.
The former couple initially listed the home jointly, but without a buyer, they made a move to completely untangle their lives. According to several sources, Affleck transferred his entire ownership stake in the property to Lopez as part of an amended settlement. He did not receive a payout. Under the amended terms, Lopez also became solely responsible for all costs tied to an eventual sale, including broker commissions, taxes and closing costs. Affleck made a smart business decision; the likelihood of turning a profit on the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom compound vanished almost immediately upon listing it.
What Comes Next?
With this buyer gone, Lopez faces a more complicated battle to unload the home. The much-discussed mansion tax, its location and its enormous price tag make the home a difficult sell, with a limited buyer pool in place.
Despite the ownership issues, everyone involved with the property has moved on long ago. Lopez relocated in May to an $18 million Hidden Hills estate she purchased in early 2025, describing the New England-style home as her “Barbie Dreamhouse.” Affleck found a property in Brentwood after the split to be closer to his kids.
