Peacock’s New ‘Married at First Sight’ Experts Talk Importance of ‘Shared Values’ and Sexual Attraction When Matching Couples [Exclusive Clip]
Can two complete strangers really find true love after saying “I do” just moments after they meet? The creators of Married at First Sight think so.
The 20th season of popular reality series premiered July 12 on Peacock. The new season features more couples than ever before – seven – as well as two new experts: Paul C. Brunson and Dr. Lisa Paz.
Brunson and Paz are a critical part of the MAFS experience. Not only do they create matches from a pool of eligible singles, but they’re also on hand throughout the process to guides the couples as they navigate the ups and downs of marriage.
When it comes to pairing up people who could possibly build a life together, these experts agree that a similar outlook on life is key.
“When you’re matching, what do you look for?” Brunson asks Paz in a clip from the show’s premiere.
“Compatibility of how they want to live their life,” Paz replies.
“Shared values,” Brunson agrees.
Emotionally availability and readiness is also key, he says. And then there’s the issue that’s tripped up many MAFS couples in the past: mutual physical attraction.
“They need to be sexually attracted attracted to each other,” Paz declares.
Once the matches are made, Paz and Brunson’s work really begins. He says he can’t wait to get into the relationship weeds with this season’s cast.
“I’ve been coaching couples across my entire career,” says Brunson, who’s also appeared on the U.K. version of Married at First Sight. “Those who are willing and wanting to do the work end up being the most successful.”
New episodes of Married at First Sight Season 20 release weekly on Thursdays on Peacock through August 27.
