‘MAFS’ Season 18 Couple Madison and David Celebrate Their Engagement After Controversial Romance
One of the most controversial couples in Married at First Sight history is one step closer to becoming husband and wife.
Madison and David prepare to say ‘I do’
Madison Myers and David Trimble both appeared on season 18 of the reality series, in which relationship experts match singles, who then say “I do” minutes after meeting at the altar. Both were married to different partners, with Madison tying the knot with Allen Slovick and David getting hitched to Michelle Tomblin. But when both those relationships became strained, Madison and David found comfort in each other.
The pair’s on-the-sly romance was exposed when David mistakenly sent Michelle a flirty text he really meant to send to Madison. Unsurprisingly, their relationship (which one co-star dubbed “grimy”) led to major drama among the cast and serious head-shaking from the MAFS experts, who were “personally upset” by their behavior.
‘MAFS’ star says being engaged is ‘magical’
Despite the relationship’s sketchy origins, Madison and David are in it for the long haul. More than two years after filming MAFS, they’re still together and are actually planning their upcoming wedding. On May 8, the couple shared photos from their romantic Chicago engagement photoshoot on Instagram.
David popped the question in March by hiding a ring inside of a giant die. It was a nod to Madison’s love of Yahtzee, “which made the whole moment feel even more special,” she wrote on Instagram.
A month later, she was still basking in the proposal glow.
“Officially one month as your fiancé and I can’t believe how fast the time is already going,” she wrote on social media. “Starting to plan our wedding and it’s been nothing short of magical. I can’t wait to marry you.”
In a recent interview, Madison opened up about her unconventional experience on Married at First Sight.
“I went on that show to find love,” she said during an appearance on the Defying the Odds podcast. “And I made a lot of mistakes, for sure. I did not act perfectly. But I always challenge people who have judged me in the past – I would love to see you in the same situation with the same expectations and the same scenario and tell me how you would have handled things differently. It’s very easy for people to judge something that they’re not a part of.”
“People had a very strong opinion,” she added. “And I think I learned very easily that I don’t give a sh*t what people think about me that don’t actually know me.”
