Jenny and Sumit From ’90 Day Fiancé’ Share Devastating Update on Her Health: ‘Can’t Talk’
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh have shared a sobering update on her ALS journey.
On August 30, the 90 Day Fiancé stars took to Instagram to talk to their fans about what was next for them as Sumit works to get a visa that will allow him to travel to the U.S. with Jenny, who was diagnosed late last year with the progressive, fatal neurological disease. While her condition is steadily worsening, the couple remains hopeful she will be able to return to her home country from India with Sumit by her side, where she can then receive treatment for her condition.

“Unfortunately, the ALS is progressing. It’s starting to show more,” Sumit shared. “It’s hard for her to talk now, and again, walk and maintain balance as well… Jenny’s losing strength in her [spine] and neck… which is making it harder for Jenny to balance while she is walking or doing anything.”
Jenny spoke very little in the four-part social media update, though she was able to say that she “can’t talk.”
“I always keep my hopes high,” Sumit continued. “I feel that America might have something better for Jenny and that she can get at least a better support system.”
However, the TLC couple faces a major hurdle in their plans to get Jenny back to the U.S. Sumit has not yet been granted a visa that would allow him to accompany his wife to America. He has applied for an emergency tourist visa, but in his latest update, he said he feared that his time on 90 Day Fiance might actually make it less likely that he’ll be approved. Meanwhile, Jenny is unwilling to travel without Sumit for fear that he might not be able to follow and they would be permanently separated.
“What if Jenny is never able to travel back to India? …. It means that we’d be apart. Apart forever,” Sumit explained.
‘90 Day’ star says India is her ‘home’
Many fans of the 90 Day: The Last Resort couple have commented online that Jenny should return to the U.S., where she has adult children and other family. But she doesn’t want to do that, she said.
“A lot of people are saying Jenny should go back home to America, to her daughters, to her family….” Sumit said, as Jenny shook her head.
“My home,” she said, pointing downward to indicate the apartment she shares in India with Sumit.
“I want Jenny to start getting treated,” Sumit added. “I want Jenny to start feeling better, or at least [have a] support system which makes Jenny at least feel like not a struggle every day.” However, if Sumit cannot get a visa, he will only be able to get that help for Jenny if they “pay the price by completely giving up our relationship.”
