Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi made an appearance together at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala. Although the two arrived and posed on the carpet separately, they were spotted getting cozy inside the venue throughout the evening.

There was no shortage of other stars at the Oct. 17 event, including Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, Sabrina Carpenter, Charlize Theron, Hailey Bieber, Tom Ford, Alexander Skarsgård, and Jenner’s older sister Kim Kardashian. But it was Elordi and Jenner who people cannot stop talking about, especially after something the model wore that’s sparking engagement rumors. Here’s what we know.

Jenner was photographed sporting an 18k Panthère de Cartier paved ring from the same collection Elordi previously wore at the 98th Academy Awards. His design features colored gemstone details, including emeralds and black onyx. Now, some are wondering if their coordinating rings are more than a deliberate relationship hard launch and could actually be hinting at an engagement in the near future?

According to Neil Dutta, jewelry expert and Managing Director of Angelic Diamonds, told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “The interesting detail about Kendall and Jacob’s rings is that they’re different interpretations of the same iconic Cartier design. The Panthère collection is instantly recognizable for its sculpted panther motif. Kendall’s ring is more diamond-focused, while Jacob’s design incorporates colored gemstones that make the animal’s features stand out.

“Rather than choosing two identical bands, wearing different versions of the same design allows a couple to coordinate their jewellery while maintaining their individual styles. It’s a much more understated approach to matching rings, particularly when the pieces are statement jewellery in their own right.”

“It’s certainly interesting to see Kendall wearing a Cartier ring from the same collection as one Jacob has previously worn, especially when they’ve just made their first official appearance together.

“Matching rings can be quite a romantic gesture, but I wouldn’t jump straight to engagement rumors. Plenty of couples exchange rings long before they’re thinking about marriage, whether it’s to celebrate an anniversary or simply as a way of showing their commitment to one another.”

Dutta added, “If they’ve chosen these designs together, it could be their own way of marking a special point in their relationship. Does that mean Jacob is about to propose? Not necessarily. But if the rings are an intentional match, it’s a lovely gesture, and the timing of Kendall wearing hers at their first official event together makes it all the more interesting.”

Another expert isn’t convinced either that these two are heading down the aisle, at least not anytime soon, despite Jenner rocking a matching ring.

Inbaal Honigman is a body language expert. She has appeared in the media for more than two decades, offering her expertise and perspectives on several pop culture figures for Big Brother’s Little Brother, Elle Magazine, and talkSPORT radio, to name a few. She explained that the couple’s body language in a video from the gala is an indicator of that.

Speaking on behalf of Casino Guru, Honigman told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Rumors of a marriage are likely incorrect, as this is the insecure behavior of a boyfriend who can be dropped at a moment’s notice. Had she already promised to love him forever, he’d have been a lot more confident and decisive around her.”
