Taylor Swift’s Fans Pay $25 for Pieces of Garbage Picked Up Around Madison Square Garden
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding has come and gone, but some Swifties still want to feel like they were part of the big event inside Madison Square Garden and have resorted to buying garbage left outside the arena. Yes, you read that correctly. Some of Swift’s biggest fans have paid to own pieces of trash thought to be left behind by a few celebrities who did attend the wedding of the year.
The AFP reported that New York artist Justin Gignac is selling garbage he picked up the night of the wedding outside the famous Manhattan venue.
Some of the items, including water bottle caps, cigarette butts, an ovulation test kit, ring pop candy, police caution tape, straws, utensils, and a single left AirPod, were sold within 24 hours of him putting them up on his website. He told the news agency that he has made over $1200 so far selling the garbage.
“It’s getting a lot of Swifties who just want a tangential piece of the wedding. I try to commemorate cultural moments in New York City, and this seemed to be a big one,” Gignac explained. “So just capturing a little time capsule from that moment in time.”
The items purchased are placed inside sealed plastic cubes to avoid leaking or smells.
The pop star and NFL star said “I do” at MSG on July 3 in front of friends, family, and the biggest names in Hollywood, including Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lopez, Paul McCartney, Brad Pitt, Jason Sudeikis, Ethan Hawke, Dakota Johnson, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Reese Witherspoon, and Selena Gomez, to name a few.
