Brad Pitt and his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, stepped out to attend the Mercedes-AMG world premiere in Los Angeles.

De Ramon rocked a red strapless midi dress with a sweetheart neckline and matching strappy red heels, while the actor donned a brown suit with a cream button-down shirt and black dress shoes. But fans were also focused on the couple’s body language and what that says about the state of their relationship these days.

Darren Stanton is a body language expert. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.” Stanton now offers his expert analysis on celebrities and other high-profile public figures. He analyzed the footage of the couple at the event on May 19.

Speaking on behalf of Covers, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Brad and Ines are very familiar with one another, and their bodies are tilted toward each other. They are unconsciously pointing towards each other, which denotes genuine rapport and trust.

“Hand-holding is a science in non-verbal communication. It can sometimes be staged for the camera. There is no one person taking the dominance here, and Brad isn’t engulfing her hand or vice versa. The power dynamic is equal, and they both want to be seen together. It’s very chilled out between the pair, and the power base is the same.”

The expert added that the two aren’t fazed at all by the cameras, observing, “The way she is looking at Brad sort of says it all – they’re not taking things too seriously and they’re not fazed by the cameras. It’s nice and light-hearted. Her eyes are quite wide, and she seems proud of him rather than being focused on the media. It means she is not performing, and she is not concerned about the optics.

“Brad also has his arm around her waist, which isn’t controlling, but it’s a protective gesture. He wants people to know that they are together. It also suggests their closeness, and some people don’t like PDA. But these two are on the same page when it comes to what they’re comfortable with in public.”

In addition, Stanton noted that the two usually maintain good eye contact, but “due to the nature of his romantic relationships and experiences, Brad switches from public mode to private mode. In some shots, he does look at his girlfriend, and it’s an emotive smile. There is great eye contact between them. What you see is what you get. But when he’s facing the cameras, his face is at work.

“It’s about being authentic in your own skin, and these two look really grounded. They don’t appear to need to stage manage anything, and there isn’t any tension. Overall, Brad and Ines seem to be in a really good place, and they seem very much in love.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
