Lauren Sánchez Bezos and her husband were honorary co-chairs at the 2026 Met Gala, and as soon as Sánchez Bezos stepped onto the red carpet, an expert noticed something about her that is very similar to First Lady Melania Trump.

Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”

Speaking on behalf of Covers, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Lauren is very sure of herself and has a lot of control. She’s aware of how she projects herself to the media in public situations. Her posture is very straight and her revealing dress indicates that she’s got a massive amount of self-assurance.

“The hand position in front of her body is also submissive, but this helps her persona instead of putting her hands on her hips. Lauren isn’t going over the top and she’s managing how she’s being photographed. She’s a confident person in herself.”

The expert then explained how Sánchez Bezos is just like the first lady, noting, “In terms of facial expressions, they’re very stage-managed. Lauren is very much like Melania Trump in many ways, and she isn’t showing any gushing emotions in public situations.

“When talking to celebrities like Nicole Kidman, she’s very poised, and there are no signs of a lack of self-esteem. She knows that she holds a high status, and the dress indicates no nonsense — she doesn’t need her husband Jeff [Bezos] to feel confident about herself. Lauren knows how she wants to be perceived. She wants to be seen as powerful with her own brain, rather than Jeff’s other half.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
