Selena Gomez Confesses Taylor Swift Has One Thing Over Her in Marriage
Selena Gomez celebrated her first wedding anniversary with Benny Blanco last month. A year of being married seemed to be eventful for the singer as she worked on various projects. She also attended her best friend Taylor Swift’s star-studded Madison Square Garden wedding this year. Despite being senior in marriage experience, she revealed that it is her pop star friend who is better at giving advice.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star recently hosted a Rare Impact Fund benefit in support of her initiative to address mental health. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gomez spoke about her first wedding anniversary with a reporter during the event. The interviewer mentioned that it was “so wild” that she and Swift are both married now. When Gomez was asked whether she had any advice for the Love Story singer, she simply said, “I think she’s probably the best to give me that.”
The Only Murders in the Building star won viewers’ hearts with her subtle response. A X user labeled her “Queen,” while another noted, “I love you, Selena.” “Every girl group has that one friend who’s basically the relationship therapist. Apparently Taylor’s that friend!” a third fan wrote.
Both Gomez and Swift went to each other’s wedding. The Calm Down singer had a rather intimate wedding at Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, in contrast to the Cruel Summer singer who invited about 1,000 guests to her nuptials.
Swift once spoke about Gomez’s wedding and how she felt after seeing her pal in a white gown. According to People, the songstress appeared on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up last year and spoke about her friend’s wedding.
She explained, “Selena was the most beautiful—not just the most beautiful bride…[but] the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” The 36-year-old continued to say that she wished nothing but happiness for Gomez. “Just so happy, and she deserves it so much. And you only wish that for people, you know?” she added.
An insider also shared details about the couple’s last September wedding. Besides Swift, several other celebrities made it to the wedding, including Ed Sheeran, who gave a speech. “At the reception, everyone was letting loose and celebrating them well into the night,” the source revealed. They added, “The vibe was so much fun.”
The insider further added that the couple was “glowing all night.” “Both Selena and Benny couldn’t stop smiling. There was so much love in the room,” said the insider.
Gomez and Swift also wore coordinated outfits at each other’s weddings. The 34-year-old donned a champagne-colored, shimmery Oscar de la Renta gown at MSG on July 3. On the other hand, less than a year ago, Swift wore a similar gown by the same designer to attend the Gomez-Blanco nuptials.
Meanwhile, Swift and Gomez have completed 18 years of friendship. The two first met in August 2008 when they dated Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas, respectively. While their relationships with the two brothers did not last long, they grew closer to one another.
Through the years, the two singers have shown support for one another on various occasions. From celebrating holidays together to making surprise appearances at each other’s concerts, the two have remained close after many years.
