New Photos Show ‘Key Change’ in Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s Relationship

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have been spotted smiling happily and holding hands while out and about in New York City.

In January 2025, the rumors about the Music Man co-stars dating were confirmed. Since then, they been seen out on dinner dates, accompanying each other to events, and supporting one another by attending their Broadway shows. But according to a body language expert, these latest photos show a bit of a shift in their relationship. Here’s more on that.

Expert says how Jackman and Sussex hold each other says a lot about their relationship

Inbaal Honigman is a celebrity astrologer and body language expert who has been appearing in media since the mid-90s. She has given predictions and analysis for Big Brother’s Little Brother, Elle Magazine, and talkSPORT radio, to name a few. Speaking about the photos of Jackman and Foster dressed casually as they strolled through Manhattan on May 17, Honigman said the duo appeared completely “aligned.”

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Honignam told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “Even in the early days of Jackman and Foster’s romance, their body language suggested a deep compatibility. Early photos of the couple show them with their fingers laced together, a romantic way of holding hands.

“The way that the actor holds hands with his then-new girlfriend, the fingers of his right hand completely interlocking with the fingers of her left hand, suggests a deep bond and a passionate relationship. When holding hands like this, the two are maximising the amount of contact between one another. Much more of the surface area of each partner’s hand gets to touch that of the other partner. More nerve endings stimulating more nerve endings.”

Honigman continued: “Furthermore, it’s a balanced and equal way of holding hands. When a couple holds each other by the hand, it is the one with the upper hand who is the more dominant partner, but with interlocking fingers, neither partner is necessarily the dominant one.

“Newer photos of the pair display the exact same bond of love. Those interlocking fingers have become their trademark. The talented couple walk in step with each other both in old images and new. When two people walk side-by-side, it’s a good sign when their steps match, and they walk at the same pace and with the same stride. This reveals their alignment, and this couple is aligned, mentally and emotionally, throughout the relationship. Comparing photos from January 2025 with photos from May 2025, they have been walking in step since the beginning, which shows that they are attentive to one another, and there are no ego games.”

Main ‘change’ in the couple’s relationship

Honigman did point out one change she noticed in the Younger actress as her relationship with the Wolverine star has progressed.

“The biggest difference is in Sutton Foster’s facial expression,” Honigman noted. “Older photos of the couple together indicate that the actress used to feel tense, stepping out in public with her new man. Her facial expressions revealed several markers of tension, from stretched, thinning lips to shy, downward glances. Even her shoulders were a little hunched and her fingers pursed together.

“All those tense gestures let us know that for Foster, the early days were a little scary. Her low-key, humble, and nervous body language in the beginning is a sign that she was not comfortable being out and about with Jackman yet. In comparison, newer pics reveal a confidence emerging. Her hands are relaxed, no longer tense, and her smile is broad. Foster feels more ‘at home’ with her beau, and is more secure in the relationship.”
