Kim Kardashian Reveals Health Scare That Could Worsen in 15 Years, Bringing Back Painful Memories of Her Father
Kim Kardashian is opening up about a new health concern. Amid juggling her professional and personal life, the reality TV star revealed she was facing a major health scare that was related to her father, Rob Kardashian’s death. The beauty mogul shared in the latest season of The Kardashians that her condition could worsen over time.
Kardashian teased her health concern in the reality show’s trailer last month. She revealed in the clip that she has “something called esophagitis.” The SKIMS founder lay in a hospital bed while wearing a hospital gown. At one point, someone asked her, “Didn’t your father… isn’t it what he died of?”
According to People, Kardashian gave more insight into her medical condition with the show’s premiere. She revealed that her condition may become more critical in the next 15 years. The 45-year-old said in a voiceover, “In 15 years, you’ll develop… I don’t even wanna say it, but something horrible.” The footage showed the 45-year-old in a bed that was being pushed in a corridor.
Kardashian’s father lost his life in 2003, at 59, after suffering from esophageal cancer. Mayo Clinic says that esophagitis is a “swelling and irritation, called inflammation, of the tissues that line the esophagus.” The leading cause of such a condition is gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly known as GERD. Some other causes include a white blood cell buildup in the esophagus.
However, esophagitis and esophageal cancer are two different conditions. The University of Washington’s Division of Gastroenterology notes that about one in 10 patients with reflux may develop Barrett’s esophagus, a condition associated with an increased risk of esophageal cancer.
Kardashian appeared not to be keeping up with a healthy life due to different conditions. She revealed her brain aneurysm diagnosis in the show’s last season. After going through a scan, the reality TV star revealed on Good Morning America that she underwent various scans for a proper diagnosis.
The mother of four also revealed that stress caused the aneurysm. During her appearance on the chat show, she emphasized the importance of health. Kardashian said, “It’s just a good measure to go; make sure that you always check everything.” “And health is wealth, and you just have to be careful with everything that you do,” the 45-year-old said.
Meanwhile, Kardashian did not detail whether her new diagnosis was at all related to what took her father’s life. However, she often credits her father for inspiring her to pursue a career in law. According to Us Weekly, Kardashian once shared that she always had a passion for law because of her lawyer father.
She revealed how she would sneak into her father’s study to look at O.J. Simpson’s case files. “Maybe it was in my soul for years that that’s what I would have wanted to do,” Kardashian shared. The 45-year-old also noted how she often told in interviews that she would like to see herself working as a “crime scene investigator or an attorney.”
Kardashian walked closer to her dream by opting to become a lawyer. She did not go to law school but took an apprenticeship route to fulfill her dream. She passed the “baby” exam in 2021. However, the businesswoman has yet to pass the official California bar exam.
