Kim Kardashian recently looked back on the night of her horror when she was robbed at gunpoint at her Paris apartment. The robber also took the 20-carat engagement ring that her then-husband, Kanye West, gave to her. A decade later, Kardashian recently revealed that she was warned about such an incident by the rapper and even her elder sister, Kourtney Kardashian.

The 45-year-old listed many of her life incidents in her upcoming biography, Citizen Kim, written by Jonathan Van Meter. According to the Daily Mail, Kardashian spoke about the incidents that took place before the robbery, involving West warning her. She shared that she wore both of her engagement rings at the rapper’s concert in New York City. When her blingy hand went viral, her then-husband shared his concern. 

“I wore both [engagement] rings out to one of Kanye’s concerts in New York City. Someone videoed my hands, and I posted it because it was so blingy to have two huge diamond rings on,” the SKIMS founder said. She continued, “And I vividly remember that Kanye saw the post and said, ‘Don’t ever do that again – you’re just looking to get robbed.’”

West, at the time, called out Kardashian for being “flashy.” She received a similar warning from Kourtney after her Los Angeles home was broken into. The Poosh founder told her, “It’s because of what you show on social media.” 

Kardashian’s traumatizing experience took place in 2016, after she flew to Paris with several items of her precious jewelry. She left her original ring in the U.S. and took the second one along with her. Before the robbers entered her Paris home, she attended several events in the City of Love with her sisters. 

In the book, she noted that robbers tracked her steps via social media. After landing in Paris, she posted a close-up of her face featuring diamond-encrusted grills and a new ring. She also shared a clip on Snapchat, asking her followers whether she should go to the club with her sisters or head back home. 

Kardashian was robbed at night when she was in a robe. She shared, “They were… yelling at me in French.” When she could not understand what they were saying, the robbers pointed to their finger. “So, I handed him my ring, and then he grabs me, and I was wearing a robe… and pulled me towards him,” she said.

At the time, she thought something more terrible was going to happen to her. However, the robbers then found her jewelry box. They tied her hands and legs, taped her mouth and eyes, and put her in the bathroom. 

The encounter with robbers made Kardashian up her security game. Her Los Angeles home had several layers of security that even her family members had to cross to reach her. According to The Sun, Kardashian also revealed that the robbery left her with sleepless nights. 

In the aftermath, she claimed that she was a changed person. The beauty mogul said, “I would say I am forever changed. I’m just not out in the way I used to be. I can’t even sleep at night unless there are six security guards all around my house.”
