During the chat, Jackson shared everything from her outlook on life, her years battling substance abuse, and the relationship that she hid from the world. In the bombshell interview, she revealed she was secretly engaged years ago. She dropped the bomb kind of casually, saying, “This is also my second engagement that I called off.” She went on to explain, saying, “I don’t know if you could count the first one.” Jackson went on to reveal that her first ex-fiancé used her own money without her knowledge to buy the ring he used to propose with.
Jackson didn’t name her former partner, and she was careful not to dismiss the relationship or her feelings at the time simply because it took place during active addiction. She didn’t specify exactly when it happened, either. She admitted that the emotional connection was real, but it was not meant to last forever.

Paris Jackson didn’t just open up about her first engagement. She also dug into the reason behind her split from Long. Jackson said that she ultimately walked away from her engagement to Long because she kept second-guessing the relationship. She said she had an internal voice that made her realize that while he is a good person, he was not meant to be “her person.”
She told Cooper that she learned being a loyal partner who doesn’t cheat was not enough to build the foundation of a marriage on, which led her to ultimately walk. It didn’t happen overnight, though. Jackson also admitted that she had tried to end the three-year-long romance more than once before ultimately ending it for good.
Now single and reflecting on both failed engagements, Jackson said she’s used the time since her split from Long to work on herself. She’s also been busy reconsidering what she’s looking for in a future partner. She said she’ll be more selective in who she pours her energy into moving forward, and focus on building a meaningful connection.
While Paris Jackson has been candid and open about the end of her relationship, Justin Long has opted to stay completely silent. He did not issue a statement after their engagement ended in July 2025, and does not appear to be dating anyone new, at least publicly right now.
