When King Charles evicted his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and former sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson, from the Royal Lodge home they shared in Windsor over their association with Jeffrey Epstein, the two exes went their separate ways.

The disgraced prince moved to Sandringham under an agreement with the monarch, while the former duchess fled the U.K. For months, Sarah’s exact whereabouts were unknown. Then in April, she was spotted at a luxury chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, owned by her ex-boyfriend, Paddy McNally.

McNally died on July 22, 2026, after a long illness. He was 88. It was thought the F1 tycoon could leave a small portion of his more than $800 million fortune to Sarah, but where she was going to live after his passing remained a mystery until now.

Fergie is reportedly staying somewhere that makes perfect sense at this time. She just became a grandmother for the fifth time and is in Portugal with her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, now that she has given birth.

After the Palace confirmed the newborn’s arrival, Express reported that the former Duchess of York is “in the country helping her daughter adapt to life as a mother-of-three.”

Eugenie lives at CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club development on the Alentejo/Algarve coast half of the year for her husband Jack Brooksbank’s work as he is a marketing executive with Discovery Land Company.

The Daily Mail previously claimed that Brooksbank was not offering up their Portuguese residence as a place for Sarah to stay long-term with sources saying, “Jack has worked very hard building his business, and it’s going well, so the last thing he needs is for the Epstein scandal to taint that.”

Despite being “concerned about hismother-in-law’s welfare,” Brooksbank had “resisted any suggestion” that Sarah seek refuge at their home. “His first loyalty has to be to his wife and their young children. The whole sordid affair has already brought them a great deal of unwarranted attention, and he won’t do anything to increase that.”

However, Brooksbank is believed to have softened his stance after the birth off their third child.

While Sarah has yet to spotted in Portugal, the wait staff at a restaurant in the village near Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank’s home confirmed that there is talk among locals that Sarah is staying with the couple.

A waiter at the O Fadista restaurant told the Daily Mail, “Eugenie and her husband are regulars and have been here quite a few times with friends. Their mothers have also been here several times but I’ve never seen the father, Andrew. Now Eugenie has had a baby, there has been talk that Sarah is back in Melides to help her with the new little one.”

Speaking of Andrew, it’s not likely he’ll show up at Eugenie’s front door anytime soon to meet his granddaughter. He’s been told by King Charles to keep a low profile and is never far from and rarely seen outside of his Sandingham house since his arrest on Feb. 19.
