Prosecutors Say D4vd Severed Celeste’s Fingers to ‘Distance’ Himself From Her
D4vd is currently sitting in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility awaiting trial. The singer is accused of murdering a 14-year-old whom he had been sexually abusing, and the case continues to grow more disturbing by the day. A newly released court filing from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has shed light on some of the most horrifying details in the case, including allegations that the singer mutilated the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in an effort to cover his tracks and distance himself from her.
Prosecutors argue that D4vd allegedly amputated Celeste’s fingers to distance himself from the crime
Recent court filings explain exactly how prosecutors believe D4vd killed Celeste Rivas Hernandez. While all of the details are horrifying, some are more troubling than others, including the lengths to which he went to try to erase the teen’s connection to him.
According to the filing, the singer amputated Celeste’s left ring and pinky fingers because her ring finger contained a tattoo of his name. Her fingers have not been recovered. Prosecutors argue that the 21-year-old TikToker turned musician amputated the fingers in an attempt to distance himself from the murder victim and erase their years-long illegal relationship.
According to the filing, prosecutors allege the singer sent an Uber to pick Celeste up from her Lake Elsinore home at about 8:40 p.m. on April 23, 2025, bringing her to his Hollywood Hills home around 10:10 p.m. Prosecutors say she was fatally stabbed not long after her arrival.
An earlier press conference revealed what investigators believe was the motive behind the slaying. Prosecutors believe that D4vd murdered the teen because she threatened to expose their relationship and posed a threat to his career. The alleged motive is part of the special circumstances in the slaying that could result in the death penalty.
D4vd’s Arrest
D4vd was named a suspect in the investigation in November 2025 and retained criminal defense attorney Blair Berk, known for representing other major celebrities. While things remained quiet for several months, the investigation broke open in April. On April 16, 2026, the music artist was arrested by the LAPD at a house on Marmont Avenue on suspicion of the murder of Rivas. Four days later, on April 20, the LAPD and District Attorney’s Office announced that D4vd would be charged with first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, and mutilation of a body. District Attorney Nathan Hochman held a press conference to announce the charges.
Since then, D4vd has pleaded not guilty. His attorney, Blair Berk, said after the arraignment that her client is innocent and that evidence will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and was not the cause of her death. Celeste’s dismembered remains were found in D4vd’s Tesla in Los Angeles on September 8, 2025. He was out of state at the time of the discovery.
Court documents allege that Rivas and D4vd first met in January 2022, when she was 11 years old. They began a sexual relationship in November 2023, shortly after Rivas turned 13 years old. He was 18. Prosecutors allege D4vd groomed the teen and had an ongoing relationship with her, which included travel. She reportedly met his family, as well, though it’s unclear if they knew how old she was.
