Ray J and Princess Love ‘Conflict Directly’ With Each Other and Their ‘Power Struggles Never Get Resolved’
Ray J and Princess Love’s on-again, off-again relationship has been marked by four divorce filings, a domestic dispute arrest, and multiple reconciliations.
Much of the drama between the singer and the model, who were married in 2016 and share two children, Melody and Epik, played out publicly via their time on the Love & Hip Hop franchise and through social media.
In February 2024, Love filed for divorce from the musician for the fourth time. Then in 2025, Ray J was arrested for domestic violence after a livestream that was shared on social media appeared to show the “One Wish” musician and Love arguing.
At one point, Love said, “Ray, you just pointed a gun,” to which he responded, “Drive drunk, Princess. Go ahead. You wanna take my kids? You and your drunk cousin?” Love then replied, “I’m not driving! You just pointed a gun at us.” In response, Ray J said, “I didn’t point nothing at y’all.”
In February 2026, Love altered a protective order against Ray, allowing him to see their children. A question some have today is: Where do things stand between them now? Ray J was asked about that and here’s what he had to say.
Ray J appeared on The TMZ Podcast recently and spoke about reconciling with his estranged wife again. The recording artist admitted that he would “love” to work things out, but insisted it would take “adjustments” and “unlimited finances” to make their relationship work.
He also appeared uncertain about whether he wanted to make changes to his professional life and remove women from his Zeus Network show, Love Cabin.
But it was already written in the stars that Ray J and Princess Love would never have an easy relationship based on their Life Path numbers. With a Life Path number of 1 (Princess Love) and 8 (Ray J), the two aren’t a match made in heaven.
According to Numerologist.com, “That recognition is the beginning of a 1 and 8 relationship. Whether it becomes a partnership or a prolonged standoff depends on what both people do next. This is not a soft pairing. There is nothing about the Life Path 1 or the Life Path 8 that defaults to accommodation, emotional openness, or letting someone else take the wheel.
“When these two numbers come together, the relationship has real power. The question is whether that power gets directed at something or at each other … The challenge is that both numbers carry strong individual authority, and two strong wills need to find a way to point in the same direction rather than against each other. The classical tradition marks this pairing as usually discordant – not because compatibility is out of reach, but because it requires both people to develop something their numbers don’t naturally generate: the willingness to cooperate rather than dominate.”
Moreover, Life Path 1 and 8 “conflict directly rather than indirectly, which can look like fighting from the outside but often functions better than the silent management that other pairings default to. Both the 1 and the 8 say what they mean, which means disagreements tend to be visible and resolvable.
“The risk isn’t frequency of conflict so much as the accumulation of small power struggles that never fully get resolved — each one minor, but together forming a pattern of competition that erodes the partnership. The solution isn’t fewer conflicts; it’s making sure the conflicts actually get completed rather than just getting tabled until next time.”
