Beau Brindley Claims Josh Duggar’s Prison Move Was Retaliatory, Not Medically Necessary
Josh Duggar’s lawyer has stepped forward to make a bit of an amendment to his previous statement on Josh’s move to a new prison. Beau Brindley, whom Josh Duggar hired to work on his appeal just months ago, initially indicated his client was fine, and his move to FMC Fort Worth was just a routine transfer. He’s back with a new update, and now he’s calling foul. Brindley now claims his client is being retaliated against, and the move is one of his punishments.
Josh Duggar was moved to a new prison suddenly in late May
Josh Duggar caused quite a stir when he was transferred from a federal lockup in Seagoville, Texas, to a designated medical center in Fort Worth. Duggar family followers theorized that the disgraced Duggar was dealing with a physical or mental health issue, noting that the facility is just one of a few in the system with the resources to deal with complex medical needs.
Josh did not speak out after his transfer, but his lawyer did. Initially, he indicated that he hadn’t a clue the transfer had taken place, claiming that he was looking into the move when the media came calling. Weeks later, he claimed the transfer was a routine move that did not indicate anything was amiss. That update was just days ago, but he’s made a pretty serious about-face since, and now he’s pointing his finger at the BOP.
Beau Brindley thinks the move was retaliation for a court motion gone wrong
While Beau Brindley initially called Josh Duggar’s transfer routine, he’s apparently found out things he considers startling. In a chat with TMZ, the well-known defense attorney claimed that he thinks his client’s transfer to the Federal Medical Center was punitive in nature. He theorizes that the BOP is punishing Josh Duggar after he and Brindley blew the whistle on flaws they say led to a prison mail mix-up during a recent court hearing.

Brindley went on to describe the move as unpleasant and reiterated that the relocation had nothing to do with his client’s health. He said he spoke with Josh by phone on Friday, June 12, and that Josh was feeling well. There doesn’t seem to be any pressing medical issue for the disgraced father of seven. He entered prison in 2022 in good health, too.
The lawyer has made some explosive claims in the past
Beau Brindley’s allegations have not been confirmed, and he had little to go on but his own theory, it seems. The Bureau of Prisons has not commented, and will not comment on the nature of an inmate’s transfer. Still, it should be noted that this is not the first time that Brindley has made a pretty damaging claim against the justice system.
Almost exactly a year ago, Brindley filed a 20-page emergency motion requesting that R. Kelly be moved to home detention. In the filing, Brindley accused prison officials of conspiring against his client and soliciting other inmates to kill him. Brindley alleged that members of the Aryan Brotherhood, housed with Kelly, were approached to kill him and offered escape options in return. In a separate accusation, he claimed prison staff had given the R&B star an overdose of his medication, which nearly took his life.
This is a developing story.
