Danny Booko became the villain on this season of The Valley. His treatment of his wife, Nia Sanchez, turned viewers and his cast members against him. Booko issued a public apology to his wife in May, and he recently admitted that his behavior has embarrassed him. He shared the steps he is currently taking to improve his behavior.

Danny Booko said he wants to improve after this season of ‘The Valley’

Booko regrets his behavior during this season of The Valley. He came under fire from his castmates for his treatment of his wife and his alcohol consumption.

“That was really tough to watch,” he told Us Weekly after watching the cast’s trip to San Diego.  “Thinking alcohol would be a good stress reliever just turned out to be the opposite.”

He said he has apologized to Sanchez multiple times after viewing himself.

“Seeing yourself in that type of light, and that version, I really just hated seeing that, and how I was treating Nia,” he said. “I have apologized numerous times.”

While he said exhaustion, stress, and alcohol led to his behavior, he doesn’t want to make excuses.

“It was a difficult season of life and a version of myself that I’m embarrassed by and not proud of,” he said. “A short fuse, stress, alcohol, and lack of sleep are never a good combination, but that’s not an excuse. I should never have taken any of it out on [Nia].”

He explained that he is currently working with a wellness coach and attending couples therapy with Sanchez.

Danny Booko apologized to Nia Sanchez for his behavior on ‘The Valley’

Booko made a strikingly similar statement on his Instagram Stories in May.

“To the person I love most, my beautiful wife, I am so sorry,” Booko wrote on Instagram Stories. “Watching these last few episodes back hasn’t been easy.”

He echoed what he said about his temper, exhaustion, and drinking.

“It was a difficult season of life and a version of myself that I’m embarrassed by and not proud of,” he continued. “A short fuse, stress, alcohol, and lack of sleep are never a good combination, but that’s not an excuse. I should never have taken any of it out on you.”

He also noted that it took seeing himself on screen to realize that his behavior was not respectful.

“Balancing parenthood and life can stretch you in ways you don’t fully realize until you see yourself through a different lens. I love, honor, and respect you deeply, and I did not show that in some moments.”

He concluded by thanking Sanchez for standing by him.

“Nia, I love you so much. I’m grateful for you, our family, and this beautiful, chaotic life we’ve built together. I thank God for you every day.”

She said she doesn’t hold his behavior against him

While Sanchez expressed some frustration in Booko throughout the season, she is standing by him. This season wasn’t easy for her to watch, but she doesn’t believe it reflects Booko’s true character.
