William and Kate May Escape Awkward Christmas Reunion as Harry and Meghan Plan to Stay Away
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the U.K. is reportedly difficult for the royal family, especially Prince William and Kate Middleton. The two Princes have been feuding for years, but the Duke of Sussex is asking for reconciliation. Amid the ongoing drama, a former royal butler revealed that the Waleses could not be more relieved if the Sussexes chose to celebrate Christmas outside the U.K.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold shared his thoughts on how the Waleses may feel about Harry and Markle celebrating Christmas in the U.K. According to the Independent, he claimed that William and Middleton are “breathing a sigh of relief” after learning about the Sussexes’ plans. Reports claimed that Harry and Markle may fly to the U.S. to celebrate the holiday season.
If the Duke and Duchess decide to do so, it will be a “get out of jail card” for King Charles. “It’s very different from being a poker face in public; it is awkward with family. It would have been such a difficult time,” claimed Harrold.
While it is unclear where the Sussexes will spend their Christmas, an insider revealed that they may see the King before the holiday. According to Rob Shuter’s Substack Naughty But Nice, an insider claimed that the meeting will not be a casual one. “This is not a casual ‘let’s get together sometime,’” the source said.
They further explained that nobody can just drop in to see the King. The insider argued, “If Harry and Meghan are in Charles’s diary, it is because he wants them there. This is deliberate.” Another insider noted that the second meeting means that the reconciliation is in process. “The important thing is that there will be another meeting.”
The second source added, “Charles is making room for his son again, and Harry knows how significant that is.” However, this does not mean William is still comfortable with his younger brother paving his way back into the royal circles. The insider clarified, “There is no meaningful communication with William or Catherine. Charles is willing to move forward. William is not.”
Harry brought his family back to his homeland more than six years after the infamous Megxit. As the Sussexes moved back to the U.K., they did not contain themselves behind closed doors. Instead, Harry and Markle began making public appearances.
The palace previously clarified that the couple was no longer working senior royal family members. Instead, they have been labeled private citizens. However, the Duke and Duchess continue to embrace their celebrity status, as everyone in the country knows who they are.
According to Radar Online, their latest moves led a royal expert to label Charles “weak.” The Royalist podcast host Tom Sykes claimed that people are not happy to see their monarch getting humiliated by the Sussexes. By keeping quiet about the situation, Sykes noted that Charles was making a “legacy-defining” mistake.
Royal biographer Tom Bower agreed with the host, adding that Charles is rather “weak.” “He hates confrontation. He feels guilt about the way that Harry was neglected during his childhood, especially after Diana’s death. It’s all together…It is a very, very great mess,” the expert added. They later urged the sovereign to take some action against Harry and get rid of him.
