Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently serving out his prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Combs’ original release date was May 8, 2028. Now, it’s looking like he will leave prison several months earlier than this. Though he recently spent time in solitary confinement after getting in a fight, his release date was moved up once again.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got in a fight while in prison

On July 24, TMZ reported that Combs got into a violent altercation with another inmate at Fort Dix. The other inmate reportedly insulted Combs, prompting him to begin a fight. Sources say that Combs “held his own,” though the fight only lasted a short while. Prison guards quickly intervened to separate the men. The source claimed that Combs immediately went to solitary confinement. 

At this time, it’s not clear how much time Combs spent in solitary confinement.

“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody,” Fort Dix told the outlet. “Such information would not be available for the public domain.”

In addition, the Federal Bureau of Prisons does not comment on “disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety, and security concerns.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ prison release date changed again

Despite Combs’ recent infraction, his release date inched up further. Combs was originally meant to leave Fort Dix on May 8, 2028, after serving out his 50-month sentence. Several early infractions, including having a three-person phone call and drinking alcohol, pushed his release date back to June 4, 2028.

His release date later jumped to April 2028, then February 2028. This month, it moved to Jan. 24, 2028. The Federal Bureau of Prisons did not give a reason for this, though release dates often change based on behavior and other factors.

He claims he is trying to better himself behind bars

Combs’ legal team is working on his appeal, hoping to either shorten or overturn his sentence. In the meantime, the mogul, who was sentenced to two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, is reportedly working to better himself.

“He’s focused on the appeal,” his representative, Juda Engelmayer, told Us Weekly, “and looking back at his life and trying to figure out ways to improve and be a better person.”

He has reportedly focused on meditation and prayer while behind bars.

“He’s trying to be one of the guys. He’s congenial and helpful,” Engelmayer said, adding, “He sits down one-on-one with people [and] talks to them and helps counsel some of them. He has a following and people like him [but] he also spends a lot of time by himself.”
