On the latest episode of The Traitors: New Blood, contestants, including Traitor Joe Vanella, heard eulogies for themselves from safe contestants. As Joe listened to the other contestants praise him, he began to convey shame. A body language expert believes that Joe showed second thoughts about being a Traitor.

As Joe listened to kind words from his fellow contestants, celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.ca noted that he seemed to show signs of discomfort.

“Joe’s previous bravado is all but gone when he can hear the Faithfuls gassing him up from inside his coffin,” she explained. “Even in his uncomfortable position in the ground, he manages to tuck his chin in. This move represents shame and regret.”

She believes that he didn’t seem comfortable with the compliments because of the way he’s had to betray the others.

“Joe closes his eyes, which is a blocking gesture,” she said. “He tries to block the compliments away because he feels unworthy of them.”

Honigman believes that Joe has some regrets about his initial desire to be a Traitor.

“Finally, Joe tilts his head to the side, showing empathy and vulnerability,” she said. “The big guy, who wanted too much to be a Traitor, is now having second thoughts and is grappling with the guilt that he will feel when the Faithfuls finally, inevitably, discover his traitorousness.”
